I am in need of new transom tie down on my Lund Angler 1700. I have previously been using the old fashioned kind where you put the hooks on and then pull the bar down to tighten things up. It seems like after about a year or so, they start to wear quite a bit and the the metal part scratches my boat (even with the rubber padding). I have heard about the Boatbuckle tie down system and looked into them a little bit, but am wondering if anyone out there has these and has any info as to how they work. Sounds like a neat set up but would like to hear how they work. Also, would I need the extra mounting bracket or does it connect right to my trailer? I have a shorelandr roller trailer. Thanks.

They work great!! You won’t regret having them.

I have them on the trailer for my Ranger 617… they work awesome, extremely slick. They’re always there when you need them and out of the way when you don’t. The ratchet system seems pretty tough, I was concerned at first but after using them frequently for three years they have held up great. They will be on every trailer I own…

Are these the self retracting ones? I allways wondered if they would freeze up in the winter?

I too have and love them!! Now they do freeze up a little bit in the winter but I have found that if you hold down the free spool lever and pull the strap in and out a couple time that takes care of the water that freezes them up.
