Blowing Fuel Fuse on Yukon

I have been blowing the fuse that controls fuel flow on my 04 GMC Yukon. When it blows, the engine stops immediately and cannot be restarted until the fuse is replaced. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it happens. Has anyone seen this and have any ideas why it would be happening?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Fuel pump or pinched wire…..fuel pumps on these very common…and very $$$$$$$$!!!! Tank must come out for removal.

Check the wiring on top of the tank where it hooks to the sending unit. Most of the new pumps require replacement of the wire loom, because of a service bulletin for shorting wires. Pump may or may not be bad as well, but the wire loom does short out on top of the tank.

Uptown Firetown in NW Rochester charge should be closer to around 900.00 maybe. Give them a call. That price is with an aftermarket fuel pump. VERY spendy. Just had mine done on my van along with a few other things at a different place as it was torn apart when they told me my problem. Mine ran rough and sometimes wouldn’t start.

Mike, is there any warranty left on that vehicle that would cover that?

Any mechanics want to earn some extra money on the side for a better price???

Blowing fuses kinda sounds like a possible short in the wiring. Lets hope thats all it is as hopefully less expensive.
    Thanks, Bill

A “GM, Delco” factory pump is $400. Labor is another $300.

The vasoline is only suppose to be used for the rubber gasket on the pump.

The fuel pump put in my van also has a module [sp] which makes them higher price they claimed. Either way, they have you caught between a rock and a hard place, when it comes to car repairs. They cost a fortune to buy and yet also cost you a fortune to try hang onto the vehicle you have by high price repairs. Unless you have two good incomes a person just can’t survive it seems at times let alone only one income.
