We have 380 acres up near Wadena, Mn that we deer hunt on. I was up this weekend with a couple of buddys and I was telling them that there are getting to be more and more turkeys in the area, but none on our land yet. We drove down the road about a 1/4 mile and in the middle of the road sits this BIG tom….he ran across the road into the field. Then, out of the ditch comes this hen….I thought it was one of those tame ducks at first. She went out into the field and the tom fanned out. Fortunately one of the guys had a camera and was able to get a couple of pictures of her….I have never seen this before..was pretty cool.

I had a neighbor when I was growing up that had hundreds of albino turkeys. White plumage and pink eyes. I don’t know how well they would have done in the wild but they sure tasted good on the table. With all the albino genetics out there because of the domestic turkey population would an albino turkey in the wild be that uncommon?

Wild toms pretty adept at causing tame birds to elope. That other bird is a bronzeback I think. Not very wild either. Hope a tag wasn’t wasted.

We have been in the area for 30 plus years and I can’t think of where the nearest turkey farm would even be.
The moral attitude in the central MN area is that eloping is not allowed!!
To me, that bird has a different looking body than a domesticated bird…and the way it acted was more like a wild bird. Besides, don’t all domesticated turkeys have the bright red head?

I’m sticking with my original thought….albino WILD turkey!

There’s way too much leg on that bird to be a domesticated bird. Also, the head colors of a tame bird are more pronounced because they are not true albinos. Too bad you couldn’t have gotten a little closer, but definately a nice pic.

An albino turkey in not created by a wild turkey mating with a domestic turkey. Not anymore than an albino deer is a cross between a whit tial and goat, lol.

This example is simply a beautiful bird and NWTF should be able to see a pic as well.
