This post comes to you as a warning. Yesterday the FW and I were in town. Our oldest daughter and her two week old son were staying with us and they too were in town. My daughter had my wif’e vehicle and heading to our house about twenty minutes before we did. When she arrived home she smelled something burning and thought one of the neighbors was burning something. She came into the house and put the baby down. She then notice smoke on our deck. When she went outside she found one of our wood planters on fire. She was able to put the fire out.
The fire burned a hole in the deck and chared a couple logs. (we have a log home) To think of how close we came to loosing everything is sickening.
Had an investigater from the sheriff’s office out. The only thing we could figure out was internal combustion. The planter had last year’s miricle grow in it. My wife moved the planter from the side deck to the front deck the previous day. It was in direct sunlight as it has been for the last five years. Needless to say I moved the other planter (identical) off the deck.
I know there are alot of readers here and wonder if anyone has ever heard of anything like this happening before. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Putting up hay that is too wet is the cause of a lot of barn fires,
    Spontaneous combustion

Look around in the pot too for any glass. Also check for a butt in the planter.
