Just a heads up to anyone that may try to contact me in the next couple weeks. I am taking the plunge into “marriagehood” this Saturday. I will be gone (away from the phone and computer) starting on Thursday until July 14th. There will be somebody here, but NOT ME!

Thanks in advance for any congrats (or condolances)….hopefully things won’t change that much…for the worse anyway! I look at it like this. I won’t have a certain someone consume too many adult beverages at the resort and have to crash on my couch all the time….Mr. Holst. Just kiddin..you’re welcome to stay still! Mavs won’t be calling me at 2am to see if I want to go catfishing. My bathroom won’t be the help yourself bathroom as you please anymore! Now I have someone to help me clean cabins! (Hope she doesn’t read this one!) Who says marriage is all bad….this could be good!

All kidding aside. I’m really looking forward to marrying Amber! I’m anticipating many many years of happiness! Cya all in a couple weeks.

You’ve picked a “keeper” in Amber buddy. I’m very happy for you and look forward to celebrating with the two of you over the weekend. And as for her reading this… I just finished printing off her copy!

Congrats-I hope the wedding goes smoothly.

I am still relatively young, but I would like to offer this advice to anyone taking the big plunge….that money that you shell out for the ring is just the start. And remember-if you get married on the 4th of July, that holiday is off limits for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!! I got married in the winter, I convinced the wife that the church would be just beautiful at dusk in the winter. I really just didnt want an aniversary to get in the way of any fishing trips.

    Hey, Steve,

Good luck. Great luck, in fact. Enjoy the time off and we’ll see you as an old married dude when you get back. Take some ringworms, by the way. They’re fun in hotel rooms.

Congratulations to you and Amber, Steve, and many happy years of bliss as I’ve enjoyed. After 47 years in the matrimonial state, , the best advice I can give you is never go to sleep angry.

Congradulations again Steve and Amber. Remember while your up that North Shore of the big lake that that water is cold. The sand is too hot and the water too cold but man is it clear (take a pole with ya) and try a little Cleo in the silver and blue color right from shore. Have a great trip and well see ya both when you get back. Steve

    Steve,
I got married at age 39. First marriage for both of us.
Since marriage, I’ve purchased a house, boat, 2 new cars, all kinds of fishing tackle and a dog. Before marriage I owned a car, rented and had crappy furniture. Behold the wonder of “dual incomes”
    Good Luck

Careful there SteveO………that’s the stuff that gets two hands on the hips and “the look”! Or is that the scene after they look and smack you one? It’s all a big blurr anymore!

Well I made it back…hitched and all. Everything went smoothly….well Mavzer had a little too much to drink, but somebody has to be the one to laugh at during the dance!! He looked something like this… !

We ventured up the north shore for a honeymoon…and i’m kicking myself for not bring a fishing rod with after seeing all those trout streams from two harbors up to Grand Portage! Oh well, I was never a trout guy.

On a serious note. I’m deeply saddened to see the post about Leo Kam. I had the privledge to meet him a few times at the resort here and he was a great guy. Super nice and fun to talk to. A few of my family members have read this thread and they commented that he gave the best advice of all about marriage. “Never go to bed angry”. I think that really is a great piece of advice. I’ll remember that as the last bit of wisdom he shared with me. That should make for a lasting marriage. Thanks Leo!

Congrats Steve and Amber!!! And Steve, if you don’t forget those ”words of wisdom” from Leo you won’t have to worry about ever taking over Jame’s couch in your living room. I’m sure James will remind you if needed. lol. Congrats. Thanks, Bill
