My brother is looking for a nice campground in WI for a family vacation. They would like full hook ups for their RV’s and campers along with some good fishing action. Does anyone have any recomondations for the Flowage and how is the fishing in late Mid June for walleye and smallies. Any other campgrounds that offer good family fun and fishing would be appreciated.

As far as I know thier is only 1 good campground on the Chip. It is a nice campground but it fills up fast for most weekends ( Chippawa Flowage campground I think is what it is called ) It has all the amenities also.
The fishing has been good the last few years but the water has been down ( get a good map ) fun lake to go to with the family lots of water with good actionApril 10, 2007 at 1:47 am #558919Google Chippewa Flowage or Hayward. There are a couple of campgrounds, Sometimes for the price of camping one can rent a cabin for about the same amount. Crappie fishing and panfish are great on the flowage. Walleyes limit is 2 and no trolling allowed. Lots of Northerns, musky, smallmouth and largemouth are spread around the lake depends what area your fishing.
Great place to get lost or turned around GPS is really an asset, first time on the flowage. Lots of unmarked hazards, and floating bogs. Fishing can be tremendous.
April 10, 2007 at 1:55 am #558924Wow! I was just looking at some family camp-out trip pictures from the Chip, funny! You might want to do a google on Chief Lake, Big Chief is at one end, there was a line of resorts, the one we stayed at was just cabins. The other year we stayed way at the other end where the river came in, this was also just cabins. There were people tenting on the islands, but that would be hard to get an RV out there! We had a great time catching slab crappies over the cribs in the morning. The walleyes were tough, if we found them we needed to put the Wisconson walleye stretcher on them to get them to 15 inches.

I would suggest you the camping will be the best option for you. It will provide you all kind of comfort and will make your journey more beautiful. Otherwise you can visit the sites where resorts information is available.

He will help you out with one of his cabins or direct you to another resort around the pond. He was my first responder / EMS teacher for training I just finished up. Nice man, he wont steer you wrong. http://www.mysticmoose.com

April 12, 2012 at 7:44 pm #1058408This is where we camp. We’ll be up in August. We have a 6 and 3 year old. Lots to do. Docks for the boats. Check out the webpage. We plan to do a night on one of the islands this year. Very family friendly. So much to explore!
