Shouldn’t be a problem at all, the windshield on mine is tinted and I ran a internal antena unit on the dash for a couple years.

I was told by the dealer that installed mine, as long at the windshield was not glass, the antenna will pick up the signal, if its glass its more difficult. Not sure it thats a fact or not.

Lowrance had problems with the internal antenna on some of their units. I think it may have been the 334c and 3800c units?

If I were buying a GPS I think I`d opt for the external antenna.

I will add that I have the Lowrance 4800m with the external antenna. I can turn on my unit with the boat in the garage and lock in on satilites.
