It was my desire to get my first report out this weekend. However, my workplace had other ideas. I do know that the bite is hot right now and the big fish have moved into the river. Jigging during the day is yielding 30-100 walleyes per day in the main river channel below the dam and downriver. Big fish are being caught on cranks at night, mostly casting up near the refuge line.

My sources tell me that a fish topping the 18 pound mark was caught in the Fox River.

The gentleman that caught the fish is from Menasha.

The record is pending at this time and will be confirmed tomorrow depending on the DNR. They have taken possesion of the fish to do whatever it is they need to do to confirm the record. When I get more information on this I’ll pass it along.

I’m hoping it’s not an April Fools joke. I’m getting this information second hand, so when I can verify it I’ll let you know. I’m seeing this on more than one webiste and it’s not being reported like it’s a joke, so keep your fingers crossed.

Bad news……it was indeed an April Fools Day joke. My apologies to everyone.

Two buddies and I are headed there tomorrow bright and early for a couple of days. Very glad to hear that the bite is in high gear. Wouldn’t shock me if a record did come out of these waters in the near future. Maybe in the next couple of days?!?
