Need some help. Son purchased a 65 mustang and the vinyl top is shot. we have it all off except for the glue . wanted to know best way or what to use to remove the glue. He is not planning to put a vinyl top back on. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks –John
Your referring to the vinyl that is glued down to a metal roof?
If so, the material isnt hard to remove, but the glue will be a pain. The only way I could get one car clean in the past was using a chemical paint stripper and starting back from metal.. I failed with several other methods of trying to remove the glue. Acetone and a scrub brush had some effect… but I didnt care for hovering over those fumes for hours.
If nobody comes up wih the answer here, try calling a few body shops and someone should have the answer for you.

Is it dry where you can sand it?? I know when I was younger we ran into this when we worked on cars but cant remember using any chemicals on them. I could be wrong of course.
