    Guys,
Looking for a little help here. What are any of your experiences with dark colored boat covers? I am having one made in about a week and I would really like to have a black cover because it would look best with my boat. I will be storing it outside at the shack this summer so I don’t have to pull it all over the state every weekend. Question is will there be a problem with heat with a black cover or do you think it won’t really matter? The guy that makes them said it wouldn’t be his first choice but has never heard of any complaints.

I wouldn’t want to be in my black ice tent in the summer.

A friend sealed a full-windshield Crestliner with black – wouldn’t do it again. Sits on a boat lift during the summer.
    – Black will always look dirty, especially if stored outside
    – His detachable stereo face warped due to the heat generated under the cover – throw away.
    – had a few things like sunscreen bottles, etc. leak due to expansion. It’s gotta be close to 130 – 150 degrees in there under full sun on a hot summer day.

Just a couple of things to consider.

mine is a very dark navy blue, I know it gets hot under any canvas, but it got so hot under mine that I had a 1 gallon jug of Quicksilver 2 stroke oil burst and cause a mess on the carpet , If that’s not bad enough, last spring I came home with an extra jug of Captain Morgan, had not quite emptied the boat out, kids got out early one day in May b/c of the heat, they heard a “pop”. A few days later I uncovered the boat to clean her up, you guessed it! smelled like a bar.

Wow!!! That is truly amazing. I’ve never been able to bring a bottle of Morgan home. Always seem to run out.

I always grab a few extra to bring home, you guys in WI and MN don’t know how good you got things. A big jug of Captain will run me $28.99 at wally world, you guys can get it for $19.99 and cheaper all the time. Iowa’s liquor system sucks.

Thanks Chomps. I guess that makes the decision easier yet. I had a small oil spill in my boat and it took a steam cleaner to get it out of the carpet. Don’t really want to have to take everything out of my boat every time I cover it.
