This weekend was just what the doctor ordered for me. I put away all the ice gear for the year. Picked up two new line counters at Gander for pulling lead this year. Retired two reel that have served me well, but it was their time to take a rest. Picked up a fresh spool of lead line and got them put together. I just picked up 3 new St. Croix Tidemaster Series rods in 7’6″ lengths for pulling 3 ways and cranks/crawlers.
Got the Trollmaster and Panther steering rod installed, and put on the Whitecaps.
Everything I needed to do to get ready for open water I got done this weekend. After reading how bad fishing was down on Pool 4 was the cue to get it all done!
Next weekend is the NW Sport Show…then it is prefishing for the FLW League on the Miss!!!!
    Here we go!!!!!

I did much the same this weekend.

Went through and sorted the tackle bag, spooled reels, rigged the boat with the all the gear, electronics, etc. Got the motors running on muffs, all batteries are charged, I’m ready to GO! No new reels for me , but I did manage a new Beckman net this weekend, hoping to devirginize it tomorrow down on P4!

Yet to put the ice gear away, hoping to get out one more time.

I did the same, got the motor started on the muffs, got my new tackle put in the right compartments, you know, double checking my walleye boxes to be sure that everything is in the right spot. looking like I might be down on 4 on thursday, me and stickboy might come down and try our luck. but got the kids out and checked out their life vests on them, not new reels or nothing like that, but got the stuff ready for the water. good luck to all who is heading out to 4.

Did much the same here in NW Iowa. Ice gear is up and away, batteries and electronics back in the boat and ready to go

Heard tonight that a nice little lake nearby had opened up enough for boat access, so could be pitching jigs to the shallows later this week

I did all that the weekend before and then went to P4 this weekend. Fishing was really slow, so slow I would call it stopped.
One suggestion is to check the air pressure in your spare tire. I have forgot the last few years and it was real low. Never thought about checking that one!!

Since it rained last night, I didn’t get my boat home.

…and now I hear the P4 bite is picking up…and I’m not going to be ready!

Looking at Coot’s boat reminded me that I better get my boat registration stickers out.

Save that 10 foot St Croix TideMaster for me Dean…I’m going to trade you for some cookies!

Ice fishing stuff put away ???!!! OK, OK I am probably done now, with this rain last night and predicted today I am drying the X2 as we speak, she got a little wet on sunday in the rain… “Hey Huckster, Is it raining out there ?” (inside joke) I have been giving long looks at the boat, in the other end of the garage, maybe it is time.

I will be up there friday night, but I think the trees are gonna catch heck back at the lot. I think Dman burned everything in the campfire last fall, including the dirt, so we need to cut some for the opener.

Yes,, If we get a typical opener, we need lots of heat..
