VHS is supposed to be really bad and effect multiple species of fish. They are making it law that it will be unlawful to transport fish out of danger states like Illinois. Sounds like all of the midwestern states that border the Great Lakes are on the list. Bad news.

This is going to have a major impact on the FLW, MTT, Port of Call, MTT, LPO..ANY TOURNAMENT on the river be it Bass or Walleye. Fish cannot be brought across State lines. So, the FLW League being out of Bay City means ALL fish have to be caught on the WI side, and you cannot even TAKE those fish across the navigation channel or “State Lines” of the River. The FLW Tour is out of MN, so you can only catch fish on the MN side. To do otherwise will be a violation of Federal law.
The State Line at the head of the lake goes from Youngs Cabin over land, and then out to Lake Pepin. Therefore, anyone fishing the League could not possess any fish caught in MN, and legally transport them to the weigh in.
    Stay tuned.

When will we learn that an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure?

I want to know when are they going to build that fence down the middle of the river to keep the WI fish on their own side. Stupid statement, I know…but wouldn’t you think they would make some sort of special regs for conjoined water systems? Weird. How could this have gone through so fast without the proper questions being asked?

BTW, this law is already in effect! So TECHNICALLY, anyone catching fish on the WI of the river cannot transport them to any of the landings in MN, and visa versa. To do so is a violation of Federal law. Same thing with the Croix.

To my knowledge, no one is enforcing it YET. Where the River is concerned.

I posted on this yesterday and all of you are correct on the absurdity of these so called “laws”

Here is the link to the bassfan ariticle I posted yesterday…It has a lot of good information in it.

This effects EVERY angler OTW, not just tournament anglers…Everyone must take a stand given the opportunity….
