Please welcome the newest addition to the IDA Pro Staff team, Jason Halfen
Jason hails from Eau Claire WI, and has a professional background in research and education. He is an avid multispecies angler and a long-time contributor to In-depthangling.com, and we are pleased to welcome him as the most recent addition to the IDA pro-staff team.
Here’s a bit more about Jason, in his own words: I am a card-carrying walleye addict. In order to hone my skills, I have been wandering down the walleye tournament trail for the past 3 years, fishing first as a co-angler and then as a boater in the FLW MN walleye league events. I operate a guide service on Lake Wissota, outside of Chippewa Falls WI, where my guests and I can target walleyes, smallmouth bass, crappies, muskies, northerns and even two kinds of catfish, all within the same trip!
The waters that I fish most often are Lake Wissota and the Chippewa River near Eau Claire WI, the Hayward WI area lakes, and Pools 4 and 5 of the Mississippi River. The Mississippi, particularly in these two pools, offers incredibly diverse and challenging angling opportunities, and I know that the experience I have gained while learning about the river has made me a more proficient angler overall.
Kids and families occupy a special place in my boat. Some of the most rewarding days that I have spent on the water have been days where I have hosted parents and their children, or a child and their “Bigs” as part of the Anglers are Role Models events that In-depthangling.com sponsors. These experiences prove, time and time again, that the size of child’s smile is in no way related to the size of the fish on the end of their line.
There are three things that have greatly contributed to my growth as an angler over the past several years. First is the support of my family. Second is a substantial investment of time spent on the water. Third is my association with In-depthangling.com, first as a member and then as a staffer. As a new member of the IDA pro staff, I am excited to be able to share my knowledge about techniques, equipment, and hot bites with our visitors, and I am anxious to meet and fish with more members of the IDA family.
Please help us welcome Jason to the IDA Pro Staff team!
