When I went to bed last night, the Vermillion was right up to it’s banks in Hastings, and the overflow spillway along 47 was ROLLING!
I got up this morning thinking I would see it over it’s banks, and just boiling!
What I saw was the spillway empty, and the river over a foot or two lower than the bank! I have never seen such a swing in that river in just 12 hours…WOW!

South Branch of the Whitewater flooded a trailer park, train tracks, and a few parks. They had to shut down a couple roads around 5 lastnight and this morning the water was back inside the banks. If we get a lot of rain today could be even worse.

Tuck, there must be a blockage somewhere between Hasting & Farmington. Because when I went to work this mourning the Vermillion is still way out of its banks.

The same thing here on the Milwaukee River about fifteen miles north of downtown. The roads are underwater and people are beginning to move their vehicles up to higher ground. The river is rising about an inch every two hours which may not sound like much, but another foot and it is in the garage.

Up here by the confluence of the Miss and the MN it is up but not a whole lot. Got to believe that there is a huge amount of water coming down the Minnesota any time. Thankfully there isn’t rain coinciding with the rapid melt-off. Although some light rain would be welcome.

The ice here on the Cedar river went out last night, still had water on it yesterday. Ice has been coming over the dam and as of this morning there was 6′ high piles of ice still pushed up against the limestone pillars that hold the railroad tressle up, The thaws finially here!!!
