I’ve been wondering,Why is it that in order for a decent bite on the rainy river(in the spring)You want low current and clear conditions. And the oppisite is in order for a good bite on P4(Cloudy water and faster current)They are both good walleye systems but tend to be completly oppisite for good fishing!

I would say lake fish vs river fish. The big walleyes on the Rainy are coming out of the lake, and pool 4 are river fish. just my 2 cents.

I would say 1/3 of the fish caught durning the spring run are in fact river fish…you can tell they have a completly different color that the lake fish!!! The fishing on Rainy only really dies off when visibility is less that 6″!!!
But your right the clearer the water the better the bite!!!
I don’t know the reason, but I do know that its not river fish or lake fish that make a difference cause the river fish are caught right along with lake fish!!!

I’ll second that Calvin.Dont wait to fish the Rainy til all the ice is gone, you will be disappointed!
