    Please welcome our newest addition to the IDA Pro Staff, Bruce “Doc” Samson!

    Doc was born February 10, 1949 in North Dakota. He finished his formal education in 1976 with a Medical Degree. Most of his career was in Family Practice but he also worked in Emergency Rooms, Urgent Care Centers, Occupational Medicine Departments, and a Back Pain Clinic. He has such a passion for fishing that he went to shift work so he could fish walleye tournaments. His tournament successes and the challenge of a new career motivated him to change careers in 2002 to full time Professional Walleye Angler. This new career includes competing in major walleye tournaments, writing many how to fish articles including an Advanced Electronics Series in the Walleye In-sider. Not to mention product education at Sports Shows, seminars, the new Lowrance School, research and development for the companies he represents, and much more.

    Tournament Highlights

    * 1986 MWC National Walleye Champion
    * 1986 MWC Team of the Year
    * 1999 PWT Devil’s Lake Winner
    * 2001 PWT Mille Lacs Lake Winner
    * 2002 PWT Devil’s Lake Winner
    * 1999 PWT West Division Top Qualifier
    * 2001 PWT West Division Top Qualifier
    * 2002 RCL National Champion
    * 2004 PWT Top Teaching Pro Award
    * 2006 PWT Super Pro Ottertail Champion

    Doc will once again be fishing the PWT as a pro angler in 2007. He also has several Lowrance Schools and Mapping classes scheduled for 2007. For the schedule, please go to Doc Samson’s Website. Doc has been a huge help to IDA members by answering questions in the Outdoor Gear forum for the past two years. Although he’s not new to IDA, we’d like everyone to extend a warm welcome to Doc Samson as our newest Pro Staffer! Welcome Doc!

    Welcome aboard Doc. Great to have you with us.

    By the way guys, his DVDs on fish locators/GPS are very good. I have both plus his Boat Control video and the newest DVD of his on understanding sonar will be on its way here soon. You can never have too much knowledge.

    Thanks, Bill

    Welcome to the staff. I was able to attend your all day training last year and then I purchased a 111HD. Awsome unit and the training helped me to set it up and use it efficiently. Nothing beats night trolling with the chip and my additional waypoints and icons.

    This 1969 photo is a reminder that we are all foolish at some times in our lives like Braink. I actually have many good memories sitting on the Red River’s muddy banks.
