As of yesterday my 4 1/2 yr.old black lab has been having trouble. Every 20 min.he tries to do his buisiness with nothing to show, now he has been vomitting yellow foam for the last 2 hrs. The vet said it is a possible obstruction but it could also be an early sign of possible kidney problems. My wife who is a RN did a rectal and said there was not an impacted stool at the buisiness end. Will not be able to take him into the vet until tommorrow but it,s not easy watching my boy in so much discomfort. Has this happened to any of you out there? I know how the members of IDA care about their dogs from reading past posts so any advice would be great. ….Thank you

Have you had him tested for Lymes?

You could try 2-3 spoonfulls of mineral oil a couple times today to see if that helps.

One question…..do you give the dog rawhide chew bones? Rawrides can be very tough on labs. The pieces of rawhide tend to block labs intestinal tracks because they sometimes eat them in too big of pieces, without chewing them up enough.

No rawhides, the vet did say that labs are notorious for swallowing about anything. I did give him a half of a laxative following the vets request so I hope that gets things started,he did also suggest mineral oil too. Thank you JLDII
