Has anyone on here had any problems with their speedometers not working properly or stop working on 2003-2007 GM fullsize trucks, suburbans or tahoes? Mine quit on my way back from Prairie last sunday. I saw an article in the paper that there is a lawsuit in Washington state and Oregon about a lot of problems with them. They say there will be more lawsuits coming. Just curious.

JR, I have an 05 and have noticed a new noise that I thought could be comming from the speedo cable?? I suppose mine will be the next to go. Did you notice any noise prior to it quitting? Guess I should have bought a Toyota like I planned!

I believe there is no speedo cable anymore. Most vehicles speedometers are run by the computer and are electric now. Gotta love technology, the average guy can’t even begin to make a simple fix anymore Good Luck

Happened to a buddy of mine, they ended up replacing the whole gauge cluster. Don’t remember the reason they gave, but that fixed it.

It couldn’t be a fuse, could it?

More than likely, the problem is either a wheel speed sensor, the cluster or a wiring issue. Does the tach work ?

Same thing happened to my work truck. They had to replace the instrument cluster, don’t know what it cost because it was still under warranty. Take it in to a dealer and they can test it for you for. I drove it for a while without the speedometer because the tach still worked and could tell the speed when I wasn’t pulling something. Anyways, good luck with it

Happened to my boss’s 2005 GMC. I will ask him, but he was shocked at how long it took to fix and the cost. He used his handheld GPS for awhile to tell his speed.

Its pretty common with lots of vehicals these days. Its usually the speed sensor which is located at the transmission on most vehicals.

This problem also affects the 4 wheel drive selector, the red light comes on. Today my radio quit working. I have a 03 GMC Sierra.

Sounds like a lemon to me. Should get it in and looked at before the Warrenty runs out unless it already did.
