Can anybody recommend a fishing camp in Canada that we can drive to and is not too expensive? Maybe boat in a little further

I would try dogtooth lake in Canada. It is located north and east of lake of the woods.
FEAR NO FISH!!!
June 10, 2003 at 3:13 pm #268224Ejay’s Portage Bay Camp in Ear Falls has been a great spot for us for the past 10 years. It is about 6 1/2 hours north of International Falls but well worth the drive. Ejay’s is located on Camping Lake which is part of the English River chain. From Camping Lake you have access to Pacwash and of course the English River all the way to the dam at Ear Falls. We typically take our own boats and spend the week and the cost per person is around $400 US. The cabins are nothing fancy but provide all of the necessities, shower, toilet, heat, dishes, etc. The walleye fishing has been amazing the last couple of years. You will also catch northerns, smallmouth bass, white fish, and perch. Let me know if you would like info. I do have some pictures of the camp, but I don’t know how to post pictures here.

June 11, 2003 at 2:14 am #268269I stayed at McEwen’s Northern Shore in 99. It was an inexpensive drive in camp. It’s the only camp on Two Island lake and it’s a very short (5-minute) boat ride to Gull Rock lake, very well known for walleye. It’s on the bottom of the Chukuni river system and you can probably travel 100 miles if you want. I only fished 3 lakes the time we were up there – 2 Island, Gull Rock and Ranger.
Good Walleye and Great Pike fishing. Never tried for Lake Trout but heard some people caught them there, too.
I just checked and cabins there start at $270 a week and include a conservation license. I’d consider using their boats for a few bucks more, new 16′ Lunds with new motors.
I’ve some pictures from there on my website – check out Canada 99: http://www.torgerud.com/Photos/PhotoList.asp?ListDir1=..\Photos\Fishing\Canada99
PM me if you have any questions.
– RickJune 24, 2003 at 7:01 pm #269259When I was younger my dad would take us up to Lac Des Mille Lacs. There are several camping/resorts up there now. And they actually tarred the road to get into it a few years ago. I don’t have much info on it myself anymore, but try this url:

(or just search on Yahoo for “Lac Des Mille Lacs, Canada”That lake is great for Walleye and Northerns! Just make sure the anchor is tied on good. We lost a few in the rocky bottom.

Jsut got back last week from one of my very best LOTW trips that I have ever had. We stayed at http://www.spruceislandcamp.com Here you drive to Morson, Ontario and then boat about 25 miles through scenic LOTW and arrive at there island camp that has it all. Only a small handful of cabins and nothing but peace and quiet and lots of big fish. We averaged over 60 walleyes per day without much trouble and one day that we hit 130+ eyes with everything from 14-27 inches. Here is my report from last week up there.

Look at the Lake of the Woods forum on this site and check out all the pics that I have included folloeing the report.
Good luck to you and I hope this helps you. Feel free to PM me with any questions if you want to.
Good Fishing!
