Have any of you guys ever had or used a Humminbird Legend 2000 fish finder. Just wondering what someone else thinks about this product. Or if you guys have any suggestions for other finders, any advice would be appreciated. I am not real good with them mostly use them for depth, but am now getting into trolling more and would like one with speed/temp on it.

These are/were the same units as Zercom LPG 2000. Humminbird bought the line and then either discontinued it or re-vamped the unit. I did not see the product listed on their website.

I have a LPG 2000. It’s an “OK” unit. These units were considered top of the line 4 years ago and listed out for $699 retail. There are units now that blow the Legend 2000 out of the water for that price. If I were to buy one used or sell the one I have, I’d guess the going price around $100. If you found a “New in the Box” unit for sale, I would not pay more than $200. And again, there are better choices out there today even at $200!

By the way, almost all units have the speed and temp option available. Even on the low end.

    Good Luck.

Thanks Jon I was just looking on ebay and there was one on there for about $100 or somewhere around that price but it was new in the box.. any recomendations for a unit in the front of the boat. It seems to me that it would be easier to have one in the front of the boat rather than looking back at the counsel all of the time to see whats going on. Plus the one on the dash is faded with sun spots so it makes it nearly impossible to read, so needless to say I am going to purchase one soon for the front of the boat, but don’t wan’t to spend to much money but still want a good unit. Anyways thanks for the advice and anymore is always welcome here.

In that $200 ballpark, a unit like this one >>> Eagle 480 Would do a great job.

For the dash, I’d try to save up a couple hundred more and go with color and the GPS package. It’s amazing how much value you can get in today’s units. Buy new, get the warranty and deal with a guy like Wade at Jolly Ann and you won’t regret it!

By the way, you mentioned the screen on your dash unit is faded and has spots… That may have been caused by overspray of bug repellant with DEET in it. Basically melts the plastic screen of most finders. That stuff is not allowed in my boat! You can try using a product like McQuire’s polish to rub out the spots.

    Good Luck.

Panfisher, bang for the buck the Eagle 480 is a nice unit. I run one on the front of my boat and have no complaints.

Thanks everybody, just sent them an e-mail about the 480, will more than likely be ordering it from Jolly-Ann very soon. Also where are they located at?
