Thought I’d put this link on here I got from my brother-in-law.

There are many very old gas station pump pictures, and many of these are still in use today..

    Enjoy….

Many of these WILL be familiar to some of us older members…

Where is the card reader for debit cards?

Where is the blue “SpeedPass” circle?

I was born it the early 70’s so these were pretty much phased out. However, I do remember having a dude come out to our car, pop the hood, and jab a metal oil funnel into a round, cardboard oil can and top off our oil.

Could you imagine a gas station worked walking out to your car and open your door to pop the hood? I bet people would call the cops now!

Thanks Jack. Brought back a lot of memories. Worked at a small gas station on the order of those when I was in high school. If gas got above .22 cents a gal. people gave you an ear full. We pumped the gas, washed all the windows, and checked oil on every vechile. The guy who owned ran a promotion every year in July. Called it Christmas in July. Sold gas for one day for taxes. 8 cents a gallon and people really growled about how high the tax on gas was. How much tax is there on a gal. today? Again thanks, great pics.

Very cool! My Dad owned a 66 station in Pine City in the early/mid 70’s. Many great memories “Working” there as a kid. Best part was being around the older guys, listening to stories, and riding around in their muscle cars! Hey Bruce B, still got any pics of that old Mustang???

I remember that too !!! There was a station in South St. Paul called Bunny’s that we always went to. They always came out, checked the oil, topped off, they always needed a little !!! Washed the windshield (with a rag and squirt bottle out of his back pocket) and had candy suckers for us kids !!! You don’t have that kind of service anymore, thats for sure.

I remember Bunny’s! My Grandma lived about two houses down from there, and I went to church at Grace Lutheran right there on Southview.
Yep, I’m sure glad they phased out the service in the gas stations so they can sell the product cheaper…

    Art,
    I agree.
I also worked at 2 Shell Oil stations out in California for a couple of years from 1965-1968. regular gas was 22 cents, and Super Shell was 25 cents. the station was all about Customer Service, Period..

hand wash fron and back windows, and check engine oil, and tire pressure when with customer asked for it. All with a smile and a big thank-you. Our station had 100 ‘s of loyal customers.
It was a fun job, but a lot of work..

Times DO change, but NOT always for the better..
    Jack..
