We had a loon keep swiming under our boat yesterday catching minnows. We must have attracted the minnows with the shadow of the boat. He stuck around for about 15-20 minutes. I decided to hold the camera over the side of the boat and got lucky.

Great photo! I had a loon swimming around the boat last night on Lake Calhoun in Mpls. I’ve been seeing more of them on the city lakes the last couple years, usually in the spring or fall when they migrate through. Definitely not a shy bird. They like to hang around the boat, but I’ve never had one as close as you did. Very cool! Vern
Awesome photo. I still miss living near Brainerd, MN and falling asleep to loons calling and the same when I woke up. Now it’s them damn screeching bald eagles! 
If you can get those eagles when they’re young, they taste just as good as Loon.
Too many bald eagles – that’s a good problem to have!

Really cute that you caught the feet in that position! 
A couple years ago my son and I had a young one follow us around and continously swim under and around our boat for about a half hour. Pretty cool stuff.
