The Vikings released Brad Johnson today I sure hope we can figure out this Quarterback thing now. We haven’t had a good quarterback for a long time.

So they are going to put all their eggs in Jackson’s basket eh? Hmmm….might be good to have a veteran on the roster.
bigpikePosts: 6259February 28, 2007 at 11:21 pm #542998I’m kinda sad to see Sad Johnson go- from a packer fan point of view
February 28, 2007 at 11:22 pm #543003We need more pro athletes like Brad, but I do believe the time has come
February 28, 2007 at 11:54 pm #543020Pockett passers win Superbowls. Just like Brad once did. But he is past his prime and it is time for him to go. I just hope everyone isn’t thinking “action Jackson” is going to lead them to the promise land. Wont happen. Vikings are destined for average seasons as long as he is at the helm…
March 1, 2007 at 12:32 am #543042I think that is OK, but I hope Jackson and Bollinger aren’t the answer!!

I guess since he didnt light it up during his ROOKIE year, we should just give up on him????? This kid bleeds talent, but Childress was so stuck on Johnsons zipper, Jackson wasnt given the opportunity he should have. This year WILL be different…March 1, 2007 at 1:35 am #543077Childress is what’s going to keep us down.johnson was not a bad qb. It hard to be a decent qb when the coach won’t let you make an audible at the line.

March 1, 2007 at 5:10 pm #543360the viks should take Quinn from ND with their pick. He will probably be there and he would be the QB for a long time. Hope they can find someone that they can throw the ball to or it won’t matter who is QB.

Drafting Brady Quinn in the first round would be as great a disaster as taking Troy “Stone Hands” Williamson was. I have heard a terrifying rumor that the Vikings are actually considering drafting Quinn, who is the most over-rated player in the draft.
Quinn played for the most over-hyped and over-rated program in college football, if not in all of sports. If he had played anywhere else, he would not be considered a first-round pick. In four years with the Sighing Irish, Quinn’s biggest win was over a Michigan squad that finished 7-5. Quinn never beat a ranked opponent in his time at South Bend, and went 0-4 in bowl games.
Quinn, like Notre Dame football in general, is way over-rated by a national media that treats the Irish much like John Madden treats Brett Favre. That is why Notre Dame has lost eight bowl games in a row. Quinn’s over-hyped “thrilling victories” came against lousy teams like Michigan State and UCLA. Against quality opponents like USC, Ohio State, LSU, and this year’s Michigan squad, Quinn and the Sighing Irish folded like umbrellas.
I have also heard that the Vikings are considering David Carr. Carr has had good moments in Houston when he wasn’t being pummlled to the turf. I would consider Carr, or even Jeff Garcia, a far better QB than Brady Quinn.
March 2, 2007 at 4:34 pm #543881i have heard Carr being compared to a young Brett Favre, which even though i don’t like the packers, would be a good thing for the vikes. i still have faith in Tarvaris Jackson…i see potential in him…

I couldn’t have said it better myself!! I truly hate notre Shame and am absolutely sick of them by September. They should rename espn to espn-nd.
I just hope Al Davis doesn’t buy the made-up hype surrounding this lamer! We sure don’t need him in Silver and Black. We don’t need B Johnson either, and we all know how Al likes to sign guys into his “old folks home” in Oakland. I sure hope he uses his head…I can’t take another 2-14 year!!!March 2, 2007 at 8:38 pm #544018I think the Vikings will try to bring in Garcia for one year. Just another band-aid. I think Childress is banking on Jackson for the future. The kid has much more to prove than a few pre-season games. Not to mention already having knee surgery.
Whoever they draft in the first round will be returning kicks in pre-season.
March 5, 2007 at 4:32 am #544690Childress reminds me of “Steckel Era” football: just doesn’t get the job done….
Am sorry to see him get another year..
Jack..
