Come on everybody

I never thought I would come to this site and see the kind of infighting and bashing that has been going on lately. Nobody wants anybody to have to be a patronizing phony, but we don’t need to turn into a community like so many others.

Honestly so little of it goes on here that it really sticks out and is kind of painful to be honest when it does. Some forums on other major sights are nearly worthless due to the catfighting. Maybe it is just the nature of the beast..open public forum..etc, but I would hope that isn’t the case. I enjoy this community and several others of similar quality and hope that they stay useful and with like the man said,”No black eyes , and just nice guys”. Opinions aren’t really the issue, more what appears to be intentional jabs. I have been guilty in the past on both sides of this deal but now I at least try to keep any personal issues out of the picture, and try to just post what I see as the facts.

IT’S OK TO DISSAGREE

If everyone was to think the same and act the same, it would be a very boring world. I enjoy reading peoples different thoughts on certain views.Most people that think their getting bashed really aren’t. Although some bashing does happen, it is very far and few between.

Lets open our minds to the reality that all views are better than one view. These are open forums and the different views can and will open our eyes to other sides of stories. And one’s personal view just shows their own personalality.

So lets keep up the great camaraderie we have here by keeping it clean and enjoying this awesome site James has molded for us.

If there’s some bashing or harrassment taking place here I want to know about it. Send me the post number, please or alert me in some way. It is not possible any longer for me to read all the posts in all the forums so everyone that wants to keep this place as comfortable and clean as it is can help out greatly by pointing me in the right direction when something pops up. If a visitor take the time to bring an offensive or inappropriate post to my attention I will deal with it immediately. Dave “ecnook” Koonce also has admin privies and the needed training enabling him to effectively deal with any situation that may pop up along these lines.

And I completely agree with ecnook when he says disagreeing is not fighting. We want differing opinions and we’re all adult enough to know when an opinion is given in a “for what it’s worth” manner or when it’s be shoved down someone’s throat as the only way to think.

Thanks for pointing this out Mountain Man. If someone seems out of place in the future, let me know. We don’t ASK the trouble makers around here to change their ways, we lay out the rules and offer them the door as their ONLY alternative to immediate change.

I was reffering to the direction the Mandatory boat safety course thread was taking and the numerous pinhead threads in the bass section about a week ago. Neither were aimed at me , but both seemed out of place here. And yes I have absolutely no editorial power here and I was speaking for myself as a member and obviously not for the website which I have no ownership in whatsoever. Just concerned that things don’t get worse. As I said in the previous post it happens so seldom that it really sticks out. Lawrence

The topic of a boaters safety course is a hot topic. I went back through the posts and really do not see any bashing. We have people with a passion for our sport and life in general. When we don’t agree, that passion can take us a little too far.
If you felt my posts were out of line I apologize. I keep my statements honest and to the point, so if someone takes a shot I will honestly tell them what I think.

Personally, I’d rather see James and Dave bust heads than have the forum deteriorate into flame wars whenever something comes up where diversity of opinion overtakes good manners.

I know that I’ve asked them to delete some of the posts I’ve made in the past, and they were more than happy to oblige. If I post something offensive, let me know and I’ll retract and aplogogize – if it’s my opinion that’s offensive the answer is easy: Convince me I’m wrong.

We’re very committed to keeping things clean around here so don’t hesitate to shoot us a PM or an e-mail. Heck, my cell # is here for all to see if the need arises. When we see something out of control or even headed in that direction we jump on it. At times we need some help spotting the stinkers with all the activity here on the forum so do feel free to point us to a post of user that needs our attention.

Good topic guys. Should let everyone know what to do if a little verbal scuffle breaks out.

I’m so proud to see that Mr. Holst is modeling again. Makes me wonder if he ever has time to fish. Pretty picture, James. All you need is one of my sheep tails to make that photo complete.

I’d like to join with Don here……………it’s obvious that he and I are passionate individuals. I carry no animosities because his opinion has differed from mine……………..I know he’s a great guy! It’s just a topic………loaded with personality. He striving to do something great on Menomin and I’d still like to help him with it.

I do apologize to all those that found it crossing the comfort line. It’s no secret that I’m willing to offer up my 2 cents and in my imperfect human condition, I know I’m going to make mistakes………..I will always try to learn from them………..but I’m still doomed to make some. In no way is that said to justify anything, it’s just the truth.

Also, I too openly invite the criticism of the EFN Staff. I’ve been around here for some time now and I love this site for all it’s been and all is capable of being. My sole intent for any involvement I have here is purely for it’s continuance, as a forefront example of what a site can do for the common unity of a very diverse gathering of individuals.

Mountain Man…………….I respect your opinion too and apologize for my role in your displeasure. Feel free to shoot me a pm if things like this happen…………I won’t fight with you or anyone else………….I’ll simply see what I need to do to make it right between us.
