I can see a use for it in off shore fishing with those much larger boats, but aside from some great lakes use, I can’t see much need for a motor that big on freashwater.

Heck, I’ve got a 300 ordered for my new rig and I’m wondering what I was thinking!

The need for speed they keep building big so we can go faster. Why? Beats the out of me.But someone on here will have one. I think that might turn my boat over backwards.

Jack….with that 300, you’ll be able to cover the **whole lake in a few minutes!

** whole lake—meaning the south half!

You are correct this outboard has been positioned for the salt water sea market. At this time there are but very few fresh water boats, IF ANY that are rated for this kind of horsepower.I am sure a handful of boat builders will be redesinging transomes for this new BEAST! Looks like the pros may be drooling at this power! Not so much for speed as you might think, but they haul a lot of gear and lures! And if your a good jig fisherman you can have as many as 3 extra people in the boat in jig weight!

Even though it’s a 4-stroke I’ll bet it drinks gas at an alarming rate.

What’s the amount of gas matter .If you can afford that many horses and the boat to put it on fuel cost shouldn’t matter.

Same motor I got in my 99 GMC, 5.3L. Probably more ponies in the Yammy though.

HHHMMMM……. Maybe it is a GM engine?

Too bad it doesn’t come in a tiller model.

How would you hold on to it if it was a tiller?

A modified tiller handle with power steering should do the trick.
