I am going on Sunday, and was wondering if anyone had any tips on parking (particularly to avoid traffic on the way out), etc.?

No… but you may want to avoid using jet fuel to get there. I hear that Nascar doesn’t like that very much.

I won’t use Jet fuel, but I’ve already lowered the rear spoiler below specs to reduce drag on the Freeway.

    Hope we don’t get caught!!

There is no real tip on parking. I know we ended up taking a shuttle. We parked in a lot about 2 miles from the track and they bused us in. No cost other than to park and that was very minimal if I remember. IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE MAIN ROAD WATCH TRAFFIC CONSTANTLY!!!! Lots of no brainers out there. Enjoy the sites and sounds. I never got to see the big race…Got to experience everything else though.

Lower the spoiler all you want… as long as you don’t mess with the restricter plate.

We are driving my father-in-law’s Buick. The engine is basically “restricted” already.

Your going to have a great time.

It’s Zoo plan on a long day and a absolute nightmare getting out of there after the race.

If your taking a buick cruiser you might wanna add a couple spring rubbers if your really going to be running her hard. Gotta keep it tight in those high speed freeway corners

Pier, that is NOT what I wanted to hear. Took us 5 hours to get out of Talledega one night, until we figured out where to park and walk from…

Eron – there aren’t enough spring rubbers in Daytona to keep that boat from floating in the corners.

Make sure you take a radio with good batteries. You will only be able to actually see a small portion of the track so you’ll still want to listen to the race to know everything that is going on.

Park your car facing out so you can jump into the traffic without having to back out. Maybe get a good map and find a secondary route using the back streets.

Went to Indy once for the 500. For some reason they had the freeways closed down to 1 lane for seam work. No work had been started, nobody working on the holiday weekend, no reason we couldn’t have driven in those lanes. Took almost 5 hours to go 12 miles on the freeway.

I will have to go look. I haven’t been there for the last two years, and for the life of me I can’t remember the name of the tower.

Just looked. OV Hill South tower. I think last time I went we were in Row 59. Not sure where Daune’s tickets are now, I think he has moved up.
