Seems a pretty good debate can be started by talking about Minnesota sports teams.

I’ll give my opinions and let you guy’s agree, rip them or just toss your 2 cents in.

Twins……..Looks to be another fun year as we are getting the everyday lineup signed and happy! With a little luck and good health they should contend all the way to the end. Personally I would like to see a little more pop from third base but Punto will be fine as long as he doesn’t get hurt. Starting pitching will be the key, if we can get deep into the games and get to the bullpen we should be OK. Hunter……..I worry that he is gone after this season, just to much money going to Santana, Mauer, Morneau. Should be a fun season.

Gopher hockey, Mens…..Need to replace the scoring of Hirsch and whatever leadership he provided. I think we are in pretty good shape for the WCHA title although they need to take it up a few notches soon, they haven’t shown alot lately. Still the best ticket in town!

Wild………hard to tell how they are doing. All the points they pick up for shootout wins make it seem they are doing well. Still, they are only a .500 team after the fast start. DeMietra and Gaborik need to step it up. The descision to get rid of Rollie the goalie may come back to bite them.

    Gopher basketball……..embarrassing

Timberwolves ……… anybody care? Are they still even around?

Vikings…….Well since they won’t get their new stadium this year (it was reported they are looking for $900 million) I’m thinking they are going to L.A. After we see the product they put on the field in 2007 we just might want to help them pack the trucks. Childress has done nothing to get a first class coaching staff, still don’t have a pro quarterback and the receivers can’t catch a 10 yard flair pass. The Wilf family has done nothing to encourage me that they care anything about winning, it’s all about the bottom line with these guy’s!(Do they remind you of McCombs, without wanting to win) L.A. here they come………

In closing I need a little help with my memory……..I thought during the stadium discussions with the Twins it was reported that Pohlad was kicking in $120 million towards the deal. Last week I read twice, that the figure was $100 million. Now everybody knows I believe Carl to be a lying thief, please correct me if I’m wrong on the figures.

Everything sounds about right except for the Gopher Hockey!!! They may contend for the WCHA title, but I don’t think they will win. My pick is actually St. Cloud to take it all. Even though I am a definate Sioux fan, and hope they pull it off, I just think the huskies have got it this year
Just my opinions, Had to rip you a little bit!!

Brian, I agree about the Twins, I just wish that we could be watching them outside this season…as much as I love watching them play it is really hard to justify paying $$ to sit inside the Dome. As for Pohlad, I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out down the road that the $100 million from him is actually a loan and that the state has to pay him back at some point…I am a UW Badger so I am a lot happier overall with 12-1 football season and the #3 basketball team in the country I have plenty to cheer about.

Not including the Twins, Minnesota has the most dysfunctional sports programs in the country. Pro and college. Some of the stuff that goes on is so bizarre that you couldn’t even make it up.

The wild are doing great seeing that they are in the toughest division in hockey. With almost everyone back to heath(exept manny at this point)they should be able to make a good run in the playoffs.

No wonder the Twinks are doing so well.

Yep, just proof that it takes a special person to overcome their depraved past…

I agree with most of what you all are saying. The one thing that really gets me is the Twins paying Hunter all that money in the first place. They should have not signed the average hitting occasional good catch and miss, outfielder. He make good catches but so do a lot of other outfielders not getting payed as much or be hurt as much. Just my 2 cents

As for the basketball teams you hit it on the head who cares!!

As for the twins we can only hope for a team a exiting to watch as last year!

Gopher Hockey- Hope they figure this out and it does not end up like last year. No other team has the talent the Gophers bring on the ice every weekend but they do not play together all the time and that hurts them. And yes the Huskies scare me, even though we are more talented.
    National Champs

As for my favorite team the Wild go. Saying that Gabby and Pavol need to pick it up. Have you seen the stats the last few games!! they are both playing great hockey right now. Take the most talented player off any other team for 34 games and they would be greatful to be 500. I just hate the fact that no one on this team sticks up for each other. Boogey will occationally go rock someone but I have seen many times when our players have been cheap shot and no one stands up for them. that is not a sign of a team that will go far into the playoffs.

Hunter is one of the top center fielders in baseball. Next year you will see what the other teams think of him. Big $’s are headed his way!

You build a baseball team up the middle, catcher, shortstop, centerfield all must have great gloves. Your corners, first base, third, left and right field are to be your power guy’s.

I am a big Twins fan, despite being from the Milwaukee area. From the days of Killebrew, Carew, Blyleven and Oliva, the Twins have for the most part always been competitive.

The Gopher Hockey Team is fun to watch and I am happy they are having another good year, albeit I don’t see them enough to have an opinion on whether they can win the NCAA Championship.

As for the Vikes, I think they are in a downward spiral that will continue into the immediate future. The Pack should win the North Division next year and then we will see how the playoffs go.

I love all the Minnesota sports teams! I’m a homer!

If the Vikings don’t show improvement, or at least if Chilldress doesn’t, I hope Wilf’s ego gets the best of him and he goes out and hires Bill Cowher as our next coach.

    Jack, Jack, Jack

Maybe you should give the guy a chance to build a team before you run him out of town? It’s not like they were loaded with talent

Since they have not drafted well, (either they were over loaded on one side of the ball or the other). It takes time to get the right personel in place.

Welcome aboard Gordy. Glad to see you found this site.

I believe Chilli should be given a fair chance, no doubt about that, but if at the end of next season he hasn’t shown any development as a head coach and the way he goes about that job, then maybe Zigy needs to address it.

You’d have to admit, there aren’t that many coaching candidates of Cowher’s quality that become available in this day and age of the NFL.

Agree on Bill C, However he would have to want to come here 1st!

Looking at the schedule for next season and the talent crop the Vikes have, I would’nt get my hopes up to high next year I would be looking at about 3 years to make the run. Only if it all works out, and the Pack and Bears lose all the young talent they have.

I am hoping that having last weekend off is just what the gopher hockey team needed, the freshman needed a break and hopefully they come back strong.
