Do you think Matt Kenseth is getting “jacked” by Nascar?

Not yet sure if he is or not. I see Kahne got his times DQ’d also.

If they are going to play those kinds of games with those kinds of cars, they will have to pay the piper sooner or later.

A former crew chief on ESPN last night said a 1/8″ inch here or there is what a lot of teams do, risk/reward type of thing. For every 1/8″ of inch a team can find in aerodynamics you pick up 1 mph at Daytona…

He said the BIG issue was the “substance” Waltrip had. He felt that was more out and out cheating. But.. He also said most drivers, particularly Waltrip, are relatively clueless about the car set-ups, or what might be attempted to gain an advantage.

Oh well, they are always tryin’!!!

I think they could be picking on Roush cars because Jack Roush said some things about Toyota coming in to Nascar. Also they said something about some holes cut in his wheel wells

I think nascar is just going to make a statement early into the season so that maybe the cheating will be limited.
You ask yourself you got yates motors in rousch cars and rousch chassis in yates cars and yates cars are on pole and by far better than rousches.Cheating our just not sharing (everything)you got to love it

Nascar is being very consistent here what Kenseth’s team was caught doing is the same thing Jimmy Johnson’s team was caught doing last year exactly, the difference being Johnson’s team had PRIOR offensive’s resulting in Johnson’s crew chief being suspended for the Daytona 500.

I am sure that Nascar is trying to reign in these volations before they get out’a hand. I think Roush has been picked out though because of his war with the toylets.

Cheating is cheating my book. I don’t care who it is. Throw the book at them and toss them out of the race. Eliminate the so called grey areas so there is no question. Suspending the crew chief really isn’t much of a penalty as far as I’m concerned.

Considering Jimmy Johnson won the Daytona 500 anyway I think your right.

    It appears your right.

Kenny Francis, crew chief for driver Kasey Kahne, and Robbie Reiser, crew chief for Matt Kenseth, whose teams failed post-qualifying inspection Sunday for the Daytona 500, have been ejected from Daytona International Speedway and will receive multiple-week suspensions, according to a report from The Charlotte Observer.

The crew chiefs will not be allowed to participate in any further Speedweeks activities, the report said. They will also be suspended several additional races, as well as receive monetary fines. The teams will likely receive points penalties as well.

It was cheating and they got what they deserved, crew chief suspended, $50k fines, and start the season -50pts (both driver and owner pts,)

But it is not the same thing that Jimmy Johnsons team got penalized for. Chad Knaus was dq’d for illegal modifications to the rear window area. These 2 incidents are related to holes in the wheel wells not being covered up that were supposed to be.

Also, 2 other teams have been penalized for unapproved rear decklid mods!!

    Maybe, maybe not.

I think that NASCAR has these guys in too tight of a box box right now. Pretty soon the screw jacks will need to be welded after qualifying and the will eliminate tape from the nose.

I’m not confident in the “car of tomorrow”. I think they could have made car’s safer without all the other body modifications and changes. Wait till they start throwing penalties at the guys for modifications to the “car of tomorrow”.

The one rule infraction I can’t stand is “actions detrimental to racing” = translation = “NASCAR has been out smarted and is made”.

    Have a good day.

Nascar has spoken. Cheat’n will not be tolerated. Is this going to stop the under handed tweaking?? No, there is just to much pressure and money in this sport. But, one thing it will do, is show case some new crew chiefs Suspend the crew chiefs and points. Money doesn’t bother these guys

Nothing but more slaps on the wrist. In no way will this prevent or even slow down the rules bending.

It absolutley will help curtail cheating if a 50 point penalty is going to be the norm for first time offenders like in these case’s.

Waltrip is really going to have the hammer dropped on him.
