We have a very nice 5 month old Lab female. I consider her house broke. BUT once every 2-3 days she will pee for no reason, not drip, empty her bladder walking around. She dosen’t squat when it happens, it’s just like something lets loose. I have never seen it happen outside and we have enough snow I would notice it if she did it when I had her out. Vet said /says she has bladder infection and we are giving her 250 mg of Clavamox 2 times a day. This has been for the last 2 weeks. The infection is about gone now and she still has it happen. The Vet. is probably correct about the infection causing it and I sure hope so. Has anyone else ever seen this condition. I can’t figure how she got infection. Clean indoor litter and same now. Thanks as always d.j.

A friend of mine has been dealing with a similar problem with his 8 months old German Shorthair. The local vets tried to help but could not help the problem, so they suggested an evaluation at the vet lab at Iowa State University. What was found was a flap that controls the kidney closing was misformed. It was corrected 10 days ago with surgery, however ISU vets said that the success rate was not 100%. Costs are not cheap, he told me that his vet bills will exceed 2000.00 dollars, but he likes the dog and it performed very well this last pheasant season.
Not sure this is your dogs problem, but you might keep this situation in mind if no other solution if found.
Wishing you and the dog the best outcome.

My lab and at least one of her litter mates had a very similar problem. We now give her a supplement called Proin 50, which is for urinary incontinence in dogs. It is just a chewable tablet that you throw in with their food, and it has pretty much cleared up the problem for us. Hope this helps. Thanks

I was hoping to hear something like that. I’ll run that by the Vet monday. Thanks d.j.

We had similar results with my LAb! Ask the vet about the incontinence problem! Good Luck!
