I was asked for ideas of places to have a business conference within a couple hours of the Twin Cities with a fishing theme. Looking for a place with a conference room and lodging for 40-50 people. They want a guided fishing trip as part of it, probably a launch to include everyone on one or two boats. Izaty’s came to mind. Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

I have attended a conference for the University up on Gull Lake near Brainerd. I can’t recall the name of the resort, but they had very nice conference facilities, fishing, and a golf course. Maybe a search of Gull Lake resorts will help out.

Grandview Lodge in the Brainerd/Baxter area has very nice accomadations. Golf, fishing, even an Aveda Spa for the gals on site. I’ve stayed there with my buddies and also with my family and have always had a good time. Adam

Ballards resort on Lake of the Woods. I have heard they do bus trips. You might be able to do a lodging and transportion trip for a group that size.

We’ve had a conference the last three years up at Ruttgers on Bay lake (typically 120-140 people) and we continually get very positive feedback. Has a very rustic/north woods feel to it, beautiful view of the lake, great food, nice beach, lots for kids to do (for those who bring up family members) and two golf courses. Plenty of fishing opportunities on Bay Lake itself, but being only 10 minutes from Garrison, you can easily take a launch out onto the big pond to accommodate your group.

    Good luck with your search,

    Jim
