Sounds like the 10-15 pounders are what we would consider catching an 8 or 9 pounder out there. World record is going to be broke out there they predict.

    That is a big walleye!

Now i’m not sure where on the Columbia that was caught, but i thought i heard of some HUGE walleye coming from near where the Columbia empties into the Pacific, and it was something to do with the salinity of the water, the walleye were able to grow bigger in brakish water. I can’t remember where i saw the pics, but they were HUGE, anyone else hear about this??

When I was making a yearly trip to Tobin Lake, we regularly saw people taking a knife to 9 to 12 pound walleyes every day for the week that we were there.
It was not a pretty sight.
The Columbia river fishery is huge and it produces many fish in the 10-15 pound range. We talked about making a trip or two out there.

I found this web site that tells all about it. It does look like a new state record.

IDAer Dan(or) from Oregon has a ton of nice fish pics in the Oregon form.

If interested in looking Click Here<<<

Then at the bottom of the page select view all.

…and hardly no one fishes them out there!

Very nice eye, I would be one very happy angler if I ever landed anything like that.

It was caught just below the McNary Dam about 7 miles out of Hermanston OR in Umitilla. I caught a 12 pounder out of the same place last year. Also know for large sturgeon in that area. I am working on getting the pics of my 7 footer and 8 footer on a disc so I can post.
