One of my customers use to raise cougars and I have to wonder if a lot of these animals are cute little pets that grew up.

I’ve seen that first pic around a couple of years ago. There is a big deal about those kitties here in Nebraska. A lot of people think the Game and Parks has placed them around the state to keep deer under control. There are usually a couple of loin sightings a month around the state.
So…would you ever leave your house after that?? …..”Honey cover me, I’m going to take the garbage out”…. Make you feel like your in the 07′ version of CUJO
Here Kitty Kitty……..
Cool pics, I elk hunt out west and have seen fresh tracks real close to the tent a few times. I keep my cat/bear gun real close at night ( 12 ga 3″ slugs) So far not lucky enough to see 1 first hand.

Yep I would need a shovel because I know what I would do if the kitty was on my porch.
I would need to change the sliding glass door also because of the bullets holes.
Some thing about the pictures makes me scratch my head though. I look at the out side there and wonder where in South Dakota they have that much snow.
Where ever it is, too close. TOO CLOSE.
The customer that use to raise them had a bait shop out by the freeway here in Forest Lake many of you might have bought bait at, where Culvers is now. One morning I came in and sat down in an old chair he had and around the corner from behind the counter came this 4 or 5 month old cougar named Joey he was watching for some one. Darn thing decided it was going to sit in my lap whether I wanted it too or not. It may have been cute but even at that age it was a lap full. Couldn’t imagine handling a full grown one after that.

PS. I’ve also use to hold a young Siberian Tiger where my friend use to program for, Carpet Girl in Grand Forks in the mid 1980’s. When I moved back down here, the last time I saw her I think she was around 8 months old. She stood up and put her paws around my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. As “cute” as she seemed, when she’d spot some thing interesting, I did see her eyes glow and she got a look that made even me uncomfortable. Always wondered what happen to her. If you were from there then you might have seen her in commercials they did.
If I found that thing watching my kids through a glass door, my kids would have a brand new cougar rug to play on in the kitchen….
Those are sweet pics. That would get my blood pumping. That would be cool to see up close like that. Just as long as there was something between like the glass.

I’m fairly certain that the glass wouldn’t hold that cat back. Cool but scary.
Licking his chops at my little kids I’d be grabbing the 06 real quick.
Cat loin: Sear the outside in butter and roast at 375F for 55 minutes. Slice thin and cover with a nice cognac/cream sauce. Yummmmm.
Tastes like chicken.
Thats true, a friend of mine has taken 3 cats and says the meat is the best wild game he has ever eaten, bar none. Eating cats does not appeal much to me but I would try it. As for the pics I am not buying it. How many wild animals would stick around for 4 pics.It looks to me like a young cat possibly a pet. You know how the net is with stuff like this.
Up in ND this fall there was a large female taken about 30 miles from where we hunt. Aweek after we got home a smaller male was take on a farm next to one we hunt. I think its cool that they’re around but would hate to lose a dog or hunting partner to one.
I am thinking hang a roast in the tree, and camp out on the roof of the house with the Hoyt

If that cat was eyeing my kids, i don’t think i’d be looking thru the lens of a camera, it’d be the lens of a scope! BANG, then take some pics!
Dave, I was thinking that too. The look on its face was the same as Joey the cougar, and Tashia(?) the Siberian when they wanted fed or attention. Clayton use to feed his cats with a baby bottle once a day to keep them relating to him as a parent figure.
Was just thinking on the Siberian, not positive but I think I heard some where he paid $10,000 for it back then.

SD got a ton of snow last year and that could have been what brought that cat up so close.
Camera ??? My Hoyt is a Compound bow !!! Just to clarify, no pictures for me, until it is dead !!!

Exactly! A predator on your property coming that close is nothing to mess around with.. Adults, or kids. That kitty cat would have to go immediately.

They taste like chicken. Funny, I was thinking something different.
When I first opened the friends email, this came to mind.

but the more I look at the pictures the more I scratch my head. A wild big cat on the prowl doesn’t understand glass and should have attacked.
