Amazing! A territorial thing or just plain hungry? We always see ambushes like this in Ont. but never with a 36 incher for bait. That gator is frickin huge-can we say “quick strike rig?”

Heard it was taken in the Boundary Waters Canoe area a couple years back in May.They said the fish came back several times allowing them to get the camera.Their line broke and neither fish was landed. That’s what I heard.

Yup, BWCA. Believe it was Lake Agnes. Been through there many times and have caught some nice fish. Might have some pics laying around. On one occasion we had our stringer of walleyes for shore lunch over the side when something grabbed it and started pulling and yanking violently. Actually jerked the canoe around a little bit as the stringer sliced through the water around the boat before it let go. Never saw the fish.

What a monster! Never seen that pic before. Looks like one of those big european northerns. Proof that pike can and do get huge if given the chance.

The pike is from Europe. If I recall correctly, Finland.

The picture of the two pike:
My best guess is that the smaller pike is about 18″, with the spinner-rig and fathead minnow in its mouth. The bigger pike is probably a 45″ fish.
