    Hi,

I made a big leap in December and purchased a used Ranger.
The previous owner did not have owners manuals for the boat, trailer, or the Mercury kicker.

I thought I was being smart going through my local dealer to get them thinking I would be working with them in the future, but it has now been a month with nary a call back except they said they were busy with the boat shows when I called 2 weeks ago to follow up.

I know I did not buy a new boat from the dealer, but is this the type of service I can expect in the Twin Cities ? While used, I do plan on keeping my boat a long time.

    Thank you for your time.

Yes this is a terrible time of year for the dealers. Tons of shows to do. However that isn’t a real good excuse, just a convienient one.

Have you contacted Ranger directly? Quick phone call or a e-mail will most likely get the deal done.

Enjoy the boat & welcome to the Ranger family!

    Hi Brian,

I contacted Ranger directly at first, they suggested going through my local dealer. A follow up e-mail to the dealer 2 weeks ago did not do much though. Perhaps going back to Ranger directly is the ticket.

Maybe if I did not work in customer service for a living, this would not be so frustrating.

    I feel for you!
Depending on which dealer you bought from it can be a couple of things. I know Frankie’s only does consignments on used boats. They grab a commision and go on their way. Needing manuals and that type of stuff might be left up your sales person, not a good thing. Debbie runs the parts and service department and also is VERY active at most of the shows. If you bought else where or from a private party you are kinda on your own.

You may want to post here and ask if anybody has the model Ranger you have an offer to pay to get a copy of their manauls, otherwise just stay on the seller.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Brian,

I have already bugged the seller a few times with no results, hence the reason I am going through the dealer. I have verified through Ranger and Mercury that they can provide the manuals at a decent price. I just cannot figure out why the dealer I am working with cannot produce them.

Maybe if I told them I have plans to add a full windshield, a back casting deck and side rails in the future, that might get their attention….

Go straight to Ranger, I wanted an owners manual, they sent me one pronto. Thus far I’ve dealt only with crystal pierz (Baxter and Shakopee), and they have been perfect I’ve been really happy with their service. It is a tough time of year for most dealers, and their staff is pretty minimal on a daily basis from what I’ve seen.

Going straight to Ranger for parts and questions Has worked really good for me, don’t be afraid to call or email them, I’ve used both and both worked perfectly. Send them an email, name and adderess, maybe even the hull id number I bet the can help you with most of the things.

Yeah my intention is not to cut the dealer of the the process, things just seem to happen a bit faster when I’ve dealt with Ranger one on one.

I have a older Ranger and have purchased parts and asked technical questions over the phone with Ranger. The parts came right away and they were always helpfull with any questions I had. They docummented what model my rig is so if I need anything they have all the information for future reference.
