I’m going to Okoboji this weekend for some bass fishing. Does anyone know if Okoboji and Spirit Lake are connected by water, or do I have to re-launch to fish one or the other.

no, they aren’t connected. East and west Okoboji are. Spirit is much shallower and warms quickly as compared to west. Water temp in 60’s and I’ve had some great days in the little stoney, red nose point and south area. Lots of good smallmouth. They love perch/crawfish shad raps. On west, there has been a real nice school of smallmouth around eaglehardt, I think that’s what they call it, next point north of manhattan point. Doesn’t get fished as much.

Sports Anchor,Spirit and the Okoboji chain of lakes are not connected.
Spirit and West will be your best bet for Smallies, they are both great smallmouth lakes.Gull point is the point North of Eagle point. It is a great smallmoth area on West. Also don’t over look the docks as they always hold bass.Stoney point is a great area on Spirit.Stop in at Oh Schucks bait and tackle(West side of West okoboji),they can help if you need any help.
