I was watching fox 9 nine news tonight and they had a story about people catching these piranahs (Spelling)? Then people start thinking that they will eat you. Then a guy said they are vegetable eating fish that are harmless. These are called Pakos? They caught them on Tanners Lake on the East side of Saint Paul. These have teeth but are made for eating berrys and things. They get to be heavy in size to. When I find it on there website I will put it on.

That was very interesting on channel 9 news. People should destroy there exotic fish and not let them go in our lakes. Thank God they are not the meat eating Parahnas.

Let me get this straight……………..a vegetarian fish? I know they exist but if vegetation is the diet, what are people catching them on?

The meat eating piranhas can’t survive our frigid temps but the message should still be a SEVERE penalty for introducing exotic species if caught.

Hey Gimpy, the fish looks like he is smiling at you. Becarefull he may think you are his next meal! Not good when strange fish get into our water systems [lakes or rivers] as it can cause problems for years to come. Hope they fine out who is doing this. Thanks fo sharing. Bill

Corn….Sweet Corn must be the hot bait. Just like carp I’d guess. I would tell what I really think, but the post would probably get pulled. TGIF

I want to make this clear from the start. I do not condone releasing any species of fish into waters where they don’t belong.

I would like to make a few comments on what has been said about the Pacu caught in the river. The first is that piranha’s and pacu’s make great pets, I have a piranha myself. I don’t want anyone looking down at people that own them as pets because a few stupid people make bad decisions and let them go places they dont belong. Most small pet stores will buy the fish back so people need to realize that their are other options out there other than releasing them into lakes and rivers. Another thing I’d like to say is that while the fish on occasion are caught, I have read many places that they cannot reproduce outside of the amazon river system where they are natural so the fish really can’t cause an extreme amount of damage to the ecology of river systems.

Again, I don’t agree at all with releasing them into rivers, but I felt that you fishermen should be aware that they won’t cause any serious damage except scare you if you pull it out of the water
