NBC Nightly News this evening had a clip of a 17 year old who saved $10k and opened a grocery store in Truman, MN that once closed. He said if you put your mind to it, you can do anything. He did it to help save a dwindling town. Pretty impressive for anyone, but more importantly someone of a younger age. We could use people like him in todays society. Something to put a smile on your face.

I also watched that, sure was a feel good story. Right up until they said a super walmart was going to open.

We as a country need more people that feel the same way.

I wrestled a guy from Truaman, back in 1963, at 95 lb. I was in 7th grade- he gave me a lesson. I think the guy won the state. That was way before there was any division on school sizes. Probaly the fastest pin in the state

I forgot to mention about that. That town doesn’t need a Super Walmart, it will kill any small business that is left.

Hopefully the people of the small town will stay focused on what this teen just did and stay faithful and loyal to his store. It will be hard since most are looking for the best deal and walmart usually has the connections to make that deal. But I also know some small towns that believe in keeping there money in the town. I just wish the kid the best of luck with his situation and investment..Hope it does not turn into a valuable lesson for him..

I taught down in that area and I don’t ever see a Wal-Mart going in down there. I saw this story weeks ago on one of the cities stations. Great story.

A Wal-Mart is not going up in Truman…as far as I know. Its currently going up in Fairmont, which is 15 minutes south of Truman. Thats where I grew up and where my parents live.

    Hopefully his grocery store survives
