Jig Painting

    I am looking for some info if anyone can help…..I make my own jigs using powder paint…..Looking at Jann’s Netcraft book, i see where the have for sale a device where you can put powder paint in a container and inject air into it to keep the paint fluffy and keeps it from becoming packed down,,,,has anyone ever seen this in action or have they used it,,would like some info before i buy it….just finished painting 20 doz. jigs and this would sure be a big help…thanks….and i see where they have air brushes for powder paint….how do these work…seems it would be a big waste of paint using this…thanks

    I have not used one but have heard many great things about the fluid beds, the device that injects air into the paint. The things that I hear are you use less paint and get a better looking product. If you want more info send me a PM and I will get you all the info you want to read.
    As for the airbrushing, I do not know anyone that uses airbrush to paint with powder.

    That item is called either a fluid bed or a fluidization bed. Like mentioned, it allows a controlled amount of air to be pumped into the paint. Between the air and vibration it suspends the paint to allow you to get a more even covering of paint. I have a large one that works well when we use it. However I do not use it unless we have a customer who indicates that they want their products to be power coated. Mostly it is used for very large pieces. As for the air brushing you can do it but you do waste a certain amount of paint.
