Today while I was working on a dock in our boat harbor here on Mille Lacs, I had two muskies swim just below the dock I was working on! I noticed this light colored object just below me as I was tightening a bolt on the dock. I was maybe 16-18 INCHES from them as they cruised just below my hand………
The bigger Muskie was around 4 feet long and the smaller one around 2-3 feet.
Oh by the way, I need to get out and purchase two new 7/16 wrenches. I had trouble hanging on to them after the encounter!

Thats pretty cool! You should be able to catch them once opener comes around if they are still there. That sort of reminds me of somthing that hung around my dock when I was younger. About ten years ago we had this huge northern under a long boat dock at my cabin. Everyong tried to catch it but the northen would always break the line. FInally after a year and a half my uncle went out and bought 20 pound test line. He caught the fish that weakend and quickly weighed it and it was a woping 28 pounds. He released it and it has never been sceen since. OF course I was only 6 at the time and only hear stories of this fish, somtimes I wonder if it was really only 28 inches long!

here on cove bay they have been crusing the shoreline since late last week. there was one this afternoon that i would guess at about 54 inches. my dock is 48 inches wide and her snoot was sticking out on one side and her tail was sticking out the other side. the male that was with her was around 40 inches. watching them for the last few days has been a real treat. i can’t wait until june 7th when the real fishing season opens. after fishing them since about 1985 i have realized one thing, just like the t-shirt sez ” all other fish are just bait”.

THAT would be a little unnerving, you just do not know what they are going to do from moment to moment. June 7 they become a little tougher to find, am sure. Jack.

hi Puddlepounder, IF by chance you have a camera could you throw on here a picture or two of some of these bruisers, would be great to see. you could set up a Musky stand on the end of your dock, with camo and all, throw out some attracting scent, and rattle some jerk baits together, and wait with your camera. Think about it, that WOULD BE cool. You’d also get your picture in the Mille Lacs Messenger. Jack.

i will give it a shot. i will try to rig some type of polarized filter to cut the glare. i don’t think they make them for digital camras like they do for the 35mm’s. maybe i will just hold my sunglasses over the lens and see if that works. it won’t be till at least firday before i will be able to do it.

depends on the digital… I can use all standard filters and lenses on Mine.. but mine is at what they call the prosumer level.. which is light pro/heavy am….. it has lots of bells and whistles…. it knows more bout photography than I ever will!
