where should I go for my honeymoon?

I’m planning a week or so in mid June for a honeymoon.

Were not looking to spend a ton of cash but also don’t want to go too cheap either.

We would like it to be all-inclusive.

The wife says something “tropical”, so a fly-in to northern Canada is out of the question.

I would like something that is not touristy, includes some drinks on the beach, and includes a day or two of fishing.

    Any suggestions?

Middle Keys all the way. Something around Islemarada(sp) and the marathon area. Much cheap and less touristy than Key West.

Rosebud island has a few nice camping spots. Kind of tropical and won’t hit the budget too bad.

I got married in September and my wife and I went to an all inclusive in Mexico. The place was called the El Dorado Royale Resort and Spa. It was about 45 minutes out of Cancun. We stayed in an Ocean Front suite, but if you wanted to knock the price down, you could get an ocean view. All the suites are the same. We plan on going back in the near future. The greatest thing about an all inclusive besides the free is that you don’t have to pay for a darn thing. No tipping or anything, unless you feel inclined. 90% of the staff there spoke english and the beaches were private.

If you are thinking about something like that place, shoot me a PM. I learned a few things that I wish I would’ve known the first time.

We also met some great friends down there that we visit with from time to time.

Go all inclusive for a honeymoon for sure. It is super relaxing with no worries at all.

We love Grand Marival (all inclusive resort) in Puerto Vallerta. PV has its tourist strip, but unlike Cancun, it is a regular town. From what you mentioned you were looking for, it sound like it fits perfectly.

We went there on our honeymoon and have been back 3 times since. I had been to Acapulco and Ixtapa, as well as another PV resort, but this place is nice and lots of fun.

I got married almost two years ago at a “Sandals” resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I have also been to the Sandlas in Negril. Both of them are absolutely top notch.(All-Inclusive)

Everyone goes to Mexico, heck, you can go every year if you want! Do it up, something to remember….go to Greece! Or atleast somewhere in Europe. Go see and do something that you possibly will never do again. You only have one honeymoon, right?

The resorts in Jamaica are great, the rest of the island kinda sucks IMO compared to Aruba, Grand Cayman, and Mexico.

Hawaii is the BEST destination IMO. If you have frequent flyer miles or anyway to get your ticket paid for, you can go relatively cheap if you stay on Kauai.

I believe if they are newlyweds, the cash is not running out of their pockets…. soooo, If its mexico, then go to Cozumel, small Island, not so touristy, if thats a word, compared to the mainland, done that. I would recommend Iberostar on the south end of Island for newlyweds. Congratulations !!! PS ,they will set up deep sea fishing for you, right at the resort, with a dock pick-up !!!

I agree with Big G. Went there for my honeymoon, it is a quiet little island, the people are great and it didn’t cost a fortune to go there.

Tropical in June means oppressive heat. Do you really want that? East coast above Georgia should be OK. Ever been to Carolina’s? Charleston? Mid June is nice everywhere.

I’m not thrilled abt going to somewhere “tropical” in June.

We were looking at Antigua or the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

Europe would be outstanding, I might have to pitch that. Otherwise it looks like Sandals get quite a few thumbs up.

Thanks for all the help–keep it coming.

I have been to Mexico (few times), and Jamaica. I would recommend doing something small after your wedding, and then doing a true honeymoon later in the winter. If you shop around you can find some good deals if you don’t really care where you go.

The wife and I did Jamaica (Beaches-a part of Sandles) and had a blast. The best part was the Scuba all morning, and the all night. Everyone at the resorts are friendly

The only downfall of Mexico, was our last trip, it was almost entirely Europeans, meaning 30 different languages and difficult to communicate, but the scenery does improve

Good luck and have fun. We left for our honeymoon 6 days after Sept. 11th

Talk to Briank, I am sure that he can get you all the cookies you want. Be quick though Evert’s fills up fast with Dean not around.

Tropical in June is not a good thing especially if you plan on spending any time on a beach. Florida in June is bad enough. Add in the additional heat and humidity of a tropical island and you’ll end up spending all that money to spend a week inside your hotel room (which is where newlyweds are supposed to be anyway). Take her somewhere like NYC or SF for a short honeymoon and then take her someplace tropical next winter. Besides you don’t want to be away for very long in the middle of June anyway as that is when the walleyes are practically jumping in the boat. If she is still set on tropical Hawaii isn’t too bad (hot or humid) in June. My oldest daughter and husband spent 2 weeks there in June a couple years ago and they loved it.

Tropical in June? I used to live in So Fla for a year and worked in the virgin islands for a stretch during one summer. Not exactly the kind of weather I would like to vacation in unless I was escaping a good old MN winter.

I would second the Europe thing, May/June may avoid peak travel season and higher travel costs.

I went to Scotland for mine and had a awesome time.

We went to Hawaii the last week in May and the first week in June, best weather I’ve ever experienced here on Planet number 3.

I second the cruise idea in June, go Alaska. If you end up in the caribbean, Aruba is great, St. Thomas can get touristy but has the nicest secluded beach I’ve ever seen in Megan’s Bay. Shopping is also great in St. Thomas.

Haven’t been to Mexico but these two caribbean destinations are my favs.

Hawaii is hands down the best place I have been to…pretty expensive though. I was at Moon Palace in Cancun in October. $1687 for 2 people, All Inclusive for 7 days. Booze, food and tipping is all included in that price. Moon Palace was very nice…plus it has a Jack Nicklaus Golf course on site, $250 a round or free if you sit through the timeshare presentation.

If you want more info let me know…

If she won’t stay a week or two at Everts, go to the islands try a Sandals Resort all enclusive if you like to drink all day and never exchange money.

We went on a Great Lakes tour in June. We left here went through the UP and spent 2 days in Mackinie Island. Not worth the money to stay on the island . You can see it all in one day. Left there and spent 4 days in Niagra Falls. 4 days is enough time there. Tons of stuff to do there. If you go that route you have to do this.

    Niagra Wirlpool Jetboat tours!

We drove the whole thing. Takes about a day to get out there if running straight through pending customs. It cost us less then $1000 back in 2002. Good luck with your trip and Congratulations!

If you do the boat don’t go in the Dome covered boat and get in the front row. Thats where we sat and loved it. They will sell you a great video also!
