The Packers ended up on a very high note, I stated here earlier in the year that I liked what I saw from the youngest team in the league, Ted Thompson had an incredible draft this year with AJ Hawk, Abdul Hodge, Jennings, the rookie lineman of Moll, Colledge and Spitz (no one has ever had three rookies start on the O-line at the same time in the NFL until this year). Got rid of bad rubbish in Walker and hired a coach who can actuallly coach. This team is going in the right direction with or with out Favre, though I would love to see him play a couple more years he has given more blood sweat and tears than anyone and whatever decision he makes is fine with me- what a legend! We will NEVER see the likes of him in the NFL he is a one of a kind. Personally I’d love to see him come back and smash all the QB records in the book including the INT record, that is what makes him so great- not afraid to take risk’s. If Thompson can have another year like this one with the draft and free agency the Packers will be back in the playoffs next year provided Favre does not retire, what do you think Packer fans? I know we will get the bitter King fans shouting “you and the Packers suck”, so now that we got that out of the way lets have some real discussion among green and gold faihfull….P.S. I think I love Favre more than Madden! Brett will you marry me????

Being from Minnesota I will refrain.

The up side for the Packers is you don’t have to be very good to make the playoffs.

Brett is a breath of fresh air in an era of spoiled, mis-behaving people. Any more of this crap like what happened in Denver and I just might give up on newspapers and TV.

Sad commentary on the human race.

A GREAT WAY TO END THE SEASON. HONESTLY,I NEVER THOUGHT,WITH ALL OF THE ROOKIES,THAT WE WOULD FINISH 500. THAT WAS REALLY A VERY HARD SEASON TO ENDURE ESPECIALLY WATCHIN THE LAST GAME AGAINST MINN. HOW UGLY WAS THAT? AS FAR AS BRETT GOES,HELL,HE CAN PLAY ON MY TEAM UNTIL HES 60 AND ILL STILL ENJOY WATCHIN HIM,LIKE YOU SAID,HE HAS EARNED THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER,I JUST HOPE ITS 1 MORE YR.

Brett still has plenty of skills left. He!! he is still better than half the QBs in the league. I would also like to see him come back.
We also did really well with the youngest team in the NFL and the most rookies starting. I think we are looking at a short “rebuilding” proccess and back on top with a 12-4 type season very soon.

I cant agree more. Farve is one of the best q b in the game today. I would hate for the guy to leave the league. On second, i would hate it becuase then i would have to dine another qb for my fanatsy team. LOL

Being a vikes fan I would love to see Favre come back just one more year!!! As a viking! I have loved the way that guy has played from the start. The best ever if you ask me.

Originally being from WI and growing up with the Packers, I have seen the best of teams and the worst of teams. Regardless of how they do in a given season, I will always be a packer fan. With that said, I have to agree that Brett is and for the most part, always has been a class act. He is someone that I’m proud to have as a roll model for my kids. There aren’t too many of them out there in professional sports these days. He can play as long as he wants as far as I’m concerned. He does more positive things for the game and for kids looking for a positive influence in their lives than any professional athlete has in a long time.
Just my humble opinion of course.

    As a Viking Fan,
I have to say, I have always liked and respected Brett. and agree with the good role model remarks. It will be standing room only the day he is voted into the Hall of Fame. no one (i’m sure) has more consecutive starts in the league, period. You can knock him down hard, but he will be in the very next play.
    I salute him.

I have been waiting for a post like yours since the Packer season ended, but it seemed there was so little interest, I decided not to post myself.

I keep thinking that if this team with 20 plus rookies would have won just one more game they would be in the playoffs. And the way the NFC has gone this year who knows what might have happened.

The Packers are about $26 million under the salary cap, so hopefully they can fill the 4-5 holes that would make them a strong contender in the NFC.

As for Brett Favre I had a chance to watch a few other teams this year and Favre is still among the best. So many dropped passes this year, including some that would have resulted in TD’s.

I hate to put in the same class as Lombardi, but aside from Vince Lombardi I can’t think of another person who has contributed as much to the Packer Organization. If he decides to hang it up, my hunch is their will be a lot of depressed Packer Fans, including myself.

    Appreciate the post.

If Bret retires, I’d equate that to a bitter divorce. I was very happy with the outcome of this season, especially the sweep of the Queens! I wasn’t chirping at the begining, and I’m not going to here, but Bret deserves another chance if he wishes. I also see his point on wanting to spend more time with the family. There is one thing I will guarantee… Bret will always be a Packer.
