Wow, it’s almost 2007 and I am packing for a fishing trip on the Big V…..r u kidding me…taking the mini van, christmas gifts, yadayadayada….I am relegating myself to 2 buckets and a rod bag…..

Downgraded my vex tackle box for walleye only, packed my minnow bucket into the bucket, wearing 4 pairs of long underware up…sheesh…

Father inlaw just got out of the hospital, so don’t have my old fishing partner, but jr. will do just fine…11″ of ice, so I won’t bother taking the shack (ain’t driving on that, and no sense draggin it a mile out)

2 buckets including my vex, minnow bucket….and ice scoop.

Back to 1900 this weekend boys

Sounds like a blast to me, Big D!! Can’t think of a better way to spend a New Years weekend. We haven’t gotten decent ice this far south(Chicago)in quite awhile so I have to just read all of the reports on here and dream!

    Hope you knock ’em dead!!

Copy!….will be a blast….haven’t carried buckets on the ice in 20 years…thus the reason for the wheeler in the garage, not to mention always having a truck…..

AND…carrying my 8″ lazer hand auger with me…hope I don’t tie into something TOO big

ok, I hope I have to pull up the whole sheet of ice to get it through the hole

No doubt! Nothing like going back to basics sometimes!! I worked on Vermilion at a camp for three summers and always thought it would be a great lake to ice-fish. Need to get up there one of these winters.

Twas a good gig…..walked 1.5 miles out on the ice Thursday…CHISELED 4 holes in the ice (didn’t want to drag FIL 10″ power auger) and this is what we got!!!

The sweat was worth it in the end….jr.s first walleye. Was cool because he caught it on a custom rod that I built him and gave him for Christmas…first fish caught on the rod.

Cool! I think I recognize that yellow rod and reel in the pic…… Glad you had fun with the young ones!

    Good Fishing,
