I disconnect the jumper between the 2 batteries when charging… I dont know if its neccessary, but I do.

If you have 2 batteries, you need a 2 bank onboard charge unless your going to manually switch the leads when one is charged.

Fisher Dave is right, I however do not remove the jumper wire. It works either way.

Most boat trolling motor batteries are under floors, or are generally hard to get to easily. a 2 bank charger will have a positive and negative lead for EACH of your 2 trolling batteries. run the leads from where ever you put the charger to the two batteries, there is usually enough wire to route about 5 feet of wire. I do not disconnect the lead from batt to batt. Place your charger where you can get to it easily to plug it in.
At least once a year, it is good to check the wires on your batteries, and clean them up with a wire brush and get any corrosion off.
    good luck.

I don’t disconnect the jumper either, not necessary. I would suggest that if you’re planning on getting an on board charger, get the 3 bank, and hook it up to your starting batt also! I wish I would have gotten the 3 bank in the first place!

If you’re buying a charge…I’m jumping in line with a 3 bank. Keeping the starting motor topped off is a good thing.

I check the water on my batteries 4 times a year…along with the terminals. Checking the water a couple times during the hotter months.

Check with Uncle Wade at Jollyann Marine to see if that Minnkota 3 bank still has the $50. rebate. Even if it doesn’t no tax and free shipping is a good deal. The service is just frosting!

    Merry Christmas!
