I am sitting here making a few family videos/slideshows for the holidays and I’m looking for specifically fishing songs.
I have a very limited selection of fishing music, and I’m running into problems, like, “You and me go fishin in the dark” by the Nitty Gritty Band is unacceptable background music for pictures of me and my buddies catching fish.
I’m hoping that you guys have some suggestions!
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I agree the You and Me goin fishin in the dark isn’t right for you, and besides, fishin in the dark is Brian K’s specialty anyhow!!

On the other hand, A few weeks ago BK did post a pretty good spoof of the Battle of New Orleans to fishin lyrics!!!

Not specifically a “fishing song”… but one of my favorites. An Alan Jackson remake of a Merle Haggard song… On Alan’s “Under the Influence” album… “The Way I am”:

Wish I were down, on some blue batou
With a bamboo cane stuck in the sand
But the road I’m on, don’t seem to go there
So I just dream, keep on being the way i am

Wish I enjoyed, what makes my living
And what I do, with a willing hand
Some would run, but that ain’t like me
So, I just dream, keep on being the way I am

    chorus
The way I am, don’t fit my shackles
    The way I am, reality
I can almost see, that bobber dancin’
So,I just dream, keep on being the way I am

    chorus

Yeah, I just dream, and keep on being the way I am

The best I’ve found is an album called “Somethin’ Fishy” by the Livebait Band. The words to these country music tunes are beyond belief. I’ve had this on cassette for almost 20 years and now on CD.

    Here’s the link.

Cletus, you beat me to it! I was gonna say “The way I am”, but by the legend himself, Merle Haggard.

I just made a couple of movies myself. I used “We Want Some Crappie” and “Da Fishin’ State” from Shad Rapp for a video of a week trip to Shell Lake with a few of my relatives. Hilarious stuff!! And yes, We really got on those crappies also. My next fishin’ video may be of the GTG on Mille Lacs in January with the tune “Ice Fish Baby”.

My wife just gave me a CD of fishing songs that are takeoffs from other songs. My favorite is to the tune of “We wish you a Merry Christmas”.
    The chorus goes:
We wish you would clean our fish, Miss
We wish you would clean our fish, Miss
We wish you would clean our fish, Miss
    and bring us some beer

i agree with iceman, shad rapp is a great band and “we want some crappies” is perfect, also “im gonna miss her” is also a great song for such an application.

“Can’t catch fish” by ShadRapp, Ol’ Shad Shwolski has to be my favorite rapper hands down, and Sweeny he is the greatest, nobody can compare. Our family throw’s in Shadrapp when we cross the border into Canada on our family vacation for mood music—–Its a classic.

My sis-in-law found a CD that’s quite funny… she gave it to her hubby at last year’s opener… sounds like a bunch of Norwee-gians singing and one of the songs centers on something like (spelled phonetically) “Yanking on my Yohnson… Trying to get ‘er started…”

I would try God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood… I think that might even jerk a few tears, depending on pic’s. He does say “From the Lakes of Minnesota…”
