My digital camera has a “Movie Feature” that allows you to take short 20 second video clips. (Many didital cams have this option) For my camera, these are stored as .mov files and can be viewed in “Quick Time Player”. This is the same software that you may have used to view James and Dustins video preview in a couple weeks back.

This a the first one I took back in Feb with “Dinosaur” on pool 4. I just want to test this thing out to see how it works. Yes, this one is kinda lame I admit, but if it works OK, maybe I’ll take more! Let me know how it looks on your end. The file is 3.2 MB and may take up to 10 minutes to load….I think!

    1. Open “Quick Time Player”.

    2. Select “File” and “Open URL in New Player”

    3. Copy/Paste the following link into the “Open URL” box.

    4. Wait for it to load up.

    5. It should start playing when it’s loaded. or Press your enter key to start after it’s loaded.

    Like I said….just playing around.

Great clip Jon! I just clicked the URL you have attached here and it loaded quicktime in about 30 seconds with a cable modem. Only thing missing was a fish getting caught

JJ, with a cable modem and a Mac, it loads in about 10 seconds.
Works good….BUT, I don’t want to insult the fellow on the video, but I would have rather been looking at a fish!

Way Cool! Maybe something many of us can start playing with.

Like I mentioned, it was the first one I shot, just playing around. Pretty cool thing on a pocket sized camera! Did the audio come through?

All I did was upload the .mov file to my webspace provided by my ISP. Many of you have this webspace and can use it if you know how. Call your ISP and they can usually walk you through it.

    Thanks,

    J.

The audio came through crystal clear. The file loaded in about 10 seconds on my T1 here at work…..

I you need Quick Time Player, go to

    http://www.apple.com

And download the software for free….

Windows Media Player does not play .mov files. (Or at least I have not had any luck doing so…)

As I mentioned, most digital cams have this video feature. I’m going to be using it more now that I have it figured out. Pretty cool being able to get a good look at the fish and then watch it swim away too!

I think we were playing hooky that day….needed to stay under cover! lol

Jon: You are correct on the Windows Media Player. It will play the audio but not the video.
Gee , I guess I better keep my day job and not get into movies.

I was told once by an “expert” at Best Buy that the digital cameras couldn’t record a good video. That was a pretty good video for a camera. I just might get one now. Thanks for showing.

I have one of the best digital cameras available for video… but so far Ive not much used it… as I have found no good way to post it on the board… I guess a link like Jon presented would work.. but I still have the problem of online storage.. which I basically have none…. the quaility of video the fuji s602 takes is quite good… of course digital camcorders are better…. and the sound is also pretty darn good….. I have 1.25GB of storage ON the camera… which allows the storage of up to 30 minutes of video….
good Job Jon getting us started in this direction…. hopefully I can utilize my camera function on this too….
