I need some education on this topic-but here is a thought that I had. How little pollution does a 4 stroke crank out? With the move to 4 strokes by 2007 (I think), should they open up the city lakes to 4 strokes w/ a no wake rule??? It would be nice to be able to have more access to these waters, esp if the fisherman would not be getting in the way of the other recreational users.

I am thinking specifically of Harriet, Calhouns, Nakomis, Lake of the Isle and Phalen.

Any thoughts? Was the position banning outboards originally for noise, wakes and pollution???

I like the rules the way they are. Keeps the traffic down and real low key. Why try to fix something that aint broke in my book. Don’t know why the rules were implemented in the first place.

On the EPA regulations…. I’m very certain that 2 strokes will not be going away. The law simply states the engines must meet a certain level of emissions…??? Please, someone correct me if I’m wrong. As a matter of fact, my 2001 Merc 150 hp XR-6 2-Stroke oil drinking, gas hog meets those minimum reguirements!!

Actually, yes! The “Old Fashioned” 2 stroke always starts and runs great! I’ll pay a little more in gas and oil for that piece of mind.
