THE VIKINGS

I am a bit suprised no one on this board has said anything lately about the Vikings.

A win next week and they are definately in contention, inasmuch as Philly plays the Giants, and Atlanta could easily lose to Dallas. If the above plays out, they will be tied for the last playoff spot, and the Pack will be next on their schedule.

The fact that if they do get into the playoffs they would be one and done, does not get me excited. More excited about Ice fishing!!

The Vikings have a solid team but I dont think they are going anywhere with JOHNSON throwing TD passes for the other team.

It sure would be nice to see them wrap up this season on a positive note. Who knows with their defense they could do something.
That being said, I do not think the Packer game will be a cakewalk. When them two teams come together it doesn’t seem to matter how good either team is. It will be a dog fight to the end.

as a Packer fan all I wish for is a sweep of the Vikings, knock them from playoff picture and finish at .500. That asking too much?

Not really, although the Pack has been streaky and not playing so well at home, they manhandled the Lions and Vikes during road games. They play at Chicago for their last game and you can bet the Bears will be resting their starters.

it’s very do-able. Pack beat the Vikes 23-17 first time around and it wasn’t as close as the score indicates. I think they have found a way to shut down the run and everbody knows that’s the Vike’s forte.
Detroit outside without their best running back should be a victory. Chicago will rest their number ones that night I would guess.
I don’t think the Vikes will get past the Jets to be quite honest with you.

I’m not real excited about the Vikings’ chances at making the playoffs, even though Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg on ESPN Radio declared the Vikings the favorite to win the sixth seed in the NFC. On paper the Vikings have an easy three games remaining, but the offense has been too inconsistent (to put it mildly) to count any game as a sure win until it is actually over.

Like someone else said, Brad Johnson has been scoring more TDs for the other team of late. This past weekend, the Vikings managed to turn what should have been an easy win over a bad Detroit team into an adventure. At any rate, even if the the Vikings do make the playoffs (I don’t think they will), it will be one-and-done.

Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans and Seattle (in that order) are the only 4 teams that can give the top of the AFC teams a game in the Super Bowl. If any other team from the NFC N make the playoffs it will be a short run.

I think the Purple have a pretty solid chance of running the table and winning three straight. Nobody can run on this defense. The key will be the pass defense and our offense. Just remember what the Steelers did last year.

Anything can happen in this league nowdays. Just think, last year this Viking team had basically the same defensive front seven that they have this year, with the exception of Leber, and that unit stunk as a defense against the run. This year those same players are the 2nd best run defense in NFL history!!

I for one hope to see this team get to playoffs. There are a lot of players on this team that have playoff experience, and have played well in a playoff enviorment. The playoffs are a totally different game than the regular season. There are just too many veterans on this team that have produced in the playoffs for them not to make a good showing for themselves if they get the chance.

Apparently the kool-aid is spike also. Come on guys. The pass D is bad and we have no O. We aren’t going anywhere. Let’s just hope we beat the pack to even the series so I don’t have to listen to SteveO brag about the sweep this year.

They have as much chance as the Pack….none…and if either were to make it, they would just get embarrased.

    I don’t care about a 9-7 team in the playoffs….I care about a 13-3 or 12-4 team…they DESERVE to be there.

    just my humble opinion

Well, as of today, the Vikings still have a chance at the playoffs. That could end on Sunday if they loose to the Jets. I am the type of fan that wants them to make the playoffs every year, even if they are 9-7. Hell, I would still cheer for them if they made the playoffs as an 8-8 team.

A true fan pulls for their team even if they haven’t won a game all year. But then again, not many people are willing to call themselves a fan of a team unless the team looks good. Something to do with their ego’s I guess. Sad but true!

I hear ya Steve. It’s been a pretty dismal season for both ball clubs. Hopefully the Vikes can win the next two. I wouldn’t want to lose to Favre in Green Bay. Especially if it’s Favre’s last NFL game in Lambeau. I just recieved a call from my Dad, he went to his company Christmas lunch today. He won two tickets for the Purple/Rams game on Dec 31st. Section 108, Row 19, very sweet seats. So, come on Purple! Win these next two so the final game against the Rams actually means something.

Assuming the Vikes win there next game, I will stick with my prediction of a few months ago that the Pack will knock them out of the Playoffs.

After watching too many games this year I will also say that Brett Favre continues to be an above average QB, and his enthusiasm for the game is amazing. The Pack has never had a player like him and I hope he returns.

    Sandbar,
I’d trade you a Troy Williamson autographed football and a #88 Packer Jersey for those two tickets.

As Jim Mora once said: Did someone say PLAYOFFS?

    Jim Mora – Playoffs

And NO I don’t think the Packers will make the playoffs either.

It’s a deal! Pretty pathetic performance last night. ish! That 4-2 start to the season had me pumped up. I guess I will never learn.
