This is the way it SHOULD read. Add to it a BCS bowl game +1 for the top 4 teams and we would get a true Nat’l champion PLUS a few deserving teams would get the bowl berths they deserve.

    1 Ohio State 12-0

    2 Boise State 12-0

    3 Florida 12-1

    4 Michigan 11-15

    5 Wisconsin 11-1

    6 Louisville 11-1

    7 Oklahoma 11-2

    8 Wake Forest 11-2

    9 LSU 10-2

    10 USC 10-2

    11 Notre Dame 10-2

    12 Auburn 10-2

    13 Rutgers 10-2

    14 Virginia Tech 10-2

    15 West Virginia 10-2

    16 Arkansas 10-3

    17 Tennessee 9-3

    18 California 9-3

    19 Texas 9-3

    20 Nebraska 9-4

I think because of their record, they should get the chance….like I siad, let them play and then throw in the +1 game for the winners of the 1 vs 4 and 3 vs 2 matchups.

I totally disagree with this. The NCAA has got to take strength of schedule into account. If not the teams playing in the more competitive conferences will be penalized. There is no need to reward teams who play in weak conferences and/or pad their standings with weak out of conference games.

The big ten used to be one of those “weak” conferences. Used to be Mich OR Ohio State would be good, everyone else was 500 at best. Fact is, the NCAA decided that Boise State and all the schools they play are division I schools…

Even if you throw out Boise State, the Badgers deserve to be in a BCS bowl. Their only loss was to Mich. USC and FLa have lost to some inferior programs (this year). No way a 2 loss team deserves a BCS game more than a (by your definition) big time school with only 1 loss.

I think the bsc bowl should be michigan and ohio state but you know it won’t be because the teams in the sec will get mad if florida doesn’t get picked.

The top 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 then the +1 game is the way to go, however, Boise State is not one of the top 4 teams. That being said, I feel that Michigan deserves the #2 spot. They were #2 last week and their only loss was by 3 at OSU, they shouldn’t be penalized by not playing this week. I agree with Honda75 in that the voters will put Florida in because they play in the SEC which the toughest conference.

Lets not forget to take into account that the BCS commissioner is also the SEC commissioner. If i had to make an uneducated guess, I’d think he might have a bit of bias towards Florida.

you said it best keepcasting…they are being penalized for not playing the past couple weeks.

I am a big Badger fan but there is on way they are a BCS team. Wisconsin played an absolutely horrid nonconference schedule and struggled a little bit in each of those games. USC is in a BCS game because they won their conference. Florida’s only loss is to Auburn, on the road and it came on a controversial call at the end of the game. There is no way Boise State should be playing for the national championship with the type of schedule they play, undefeated doesn’t matter when you play Idaho and the likes. The system is flawed and should be changed to an eight game playoff to truly decide the national champion.

Brianhoffes. Wi didn’t play OU and lost to Mich 27-14. It was a good game. Mich lost to OU by 3 points on OU home turf. I believe a nuetral feild would prove MI the better team.

I agree, but would prefer to watch Ohio State play someone else. I suspect that was a factor in selecting Florida State for the BCS Bowl.

Give me a playoff. My Badgers will always be ranked early season behind OSU, and Michigan. We have one loss early and you can’t over come it. The BCS brought us Nebraska to the title game and they didn’t even win their conference a few years back.

Complaining about the BCS is a futile waste of anger. It is what it is, and as flawed and pathetic as it is, we are unfortunately stuck with it. The bottom line in my opinion comes down to $$$$$$. The bowl games generate HUGE amounts of money for the cities that put them on, along with a pretty good sum to the teams involved. They like them the way they are and are reluctant to change.

My question is why can’t you keep the bowl games as they are, and designate two games as your 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 games. All the lesser teams still get to go to bowl games to satisfy the boosters. Add the +1 game at a neutral site for the second week in January. They already moved the championship game to January 8th (or something like that) this year anyway. It could easily be done without much of a change to how the current profitable system works. You will have just as many people unhappy that their team was number 5 and didn’t get in and how they deserve it more.

Why is Div 1A college football is the only sport without a playoff? I don’t know and most likely, there are 100 answers to that question and they are probably all right.

Boise State doesn’t deserve a shot at the title. There is something like 113 division 1A college football teams. We all know that some of these conferences are division 1 for scholarship reasons only, and to think that a team like Boise State would be competitive against the top Big 10, Pac 10, or SEC teams is not something I would be willing to bet money on. I could be wrong though, it’s happened once before.

True true. Although I have watched Boise State a couple times this year and they are for real. If I was a bettin man, I think the under would be a good bet. Eventually enough big school teams will get shafted and they will turn the tide. Just ask Lloyd Carr.

I think they should set it up NFL style. Top 16 teams get in and play it out from there. You can still have sponsors for each game that is played. The bigger sponsors are going to want to sponsor the final games. But in the end it’s all about money and that system probably wouldn’t generate enogh money for some of the schools and sponsors.
