I need an electrician or someone that knows how to wire a dimmer and a three way. Probably take less than 15 min.
Check with Stick Boy…he’s been on dim for years!
Seriously, he should be able to help you out.
The circut was wired incorrectly to begin with. Once I installed the switches correctly, it started blowing fuses.

Are you sure it wasn’t wired right and you just can’t read directions???? Just kidding…it is probably better to get someone experienced in that. I’m a good handy man when it comest to that stuff…but if it is a mess let someone else take the blame when the house burns down.
Make sure you lick your fingers when you start.
here is how it should look:
from source red red
Black Black To Light
As for the dimmer, it connect like a regular switch
that sure didn’t work….PM or call me DJ, I can tell ya how it goes
It may be wired right, but you have a short on your ground wire near the bulb
What colors are your wires?
The single pole on the switches: 1 switch comes from sourch, on the other switch, it goes to the load (light)
The doubles must be straight across, no crossover (I teach “choo choo train” to my students….like lining up train cars)
Forget about the colors. All you need to do is figure out which wire has power on it, and which wire (on the other switch) goes out to the light. If you know that, tie those into their respective gold screw on the switch. The other wires in the box are “travelers” and it does not matter which terminal they tie into.
Start by disconnection all wires, but leave the wires exposed and hot. Test to see where you have power. Mark it “Hot” and tie it to a traveler (known color). Go to the other switch and touch this to other wires until the light comes on, Mark this light. Tie the travelers between, and she should work like a beauty.
If you need any other help with electrical, give BrianK a call. He is a ceilng fan and electrical guru
Be careful dont start disconnecting wires without someone that knows what there doing in a new house you should be fine but some older homes which are wired in flex they have multi wire circuits that share nuetrals if you disconect nuetral you could create 240volts on your outlets burning up all your electronics.
Just take the dimmer switch into a Real Estate office and tell them you need a new house for your dimmer switch. If you play your cards right, you can have the previous owner of the new house install the dimmer switch as a contigency .
I’ve got the Fire Trucks warming up! Just remember to get out and call from the neighbors house!

Possible that power is run to the light box and not the switch?
Derek – Take the back cover off your fluke. They should have a small fuse that probably just blew out. I doubt it is destroyed. I used to work at Sears in College and replaced fuses for guys about once a week.
Also make sure you have the right pitch on those wires or the juice will never flow right.
Okay, Im done now.
Don’t forget to lick your fingers
Hey MM….gotchur ice gear ready yet? Was going through my sticks last night…I’m ready
If I was closer to you I’d come help. As soon as I figure out this box.
