I have laptop and somethin got spilled on it or somethin because some of the keys ( mostly the numbers ) are a little sticky. Is there any cleaner out there that would clean it up that wouldnt hurt it?
    thanks

They didn’t happen to be the numbers of your credit card?? Sorry, couldn’t resist when I saw the title.

True story, my wife called one day and complained that the computer wasnt working. I asked what the problem was, she said the keyboard wasnt working when she tried to type something. I told her I would look at it when I get home.

So I start poking around w/ the connections-not being a computer whiz I really dont know what I am looking for. The connections look fine, so I pick up the keyboard and have a look at it. About 20 ounces of water comes spilling out all over me.

Ah honey, did water get spilled on the keyboard. Her: “Yes, does that make a difference”.

    That’s funny Dave!

Sounded like the time I found the Favorite Wife using a brand spanking new Kirby to vacuum up spilled soda!

About the keyboard…using a wash towel and warm slightly soapy water….wring out the towel so it’s not dripping…almost dry even…having your computer off…wipe down the sides of the keys…sometimes a Q tip will work better..kind depends on the keyboard and what’s making it stick. Keep in mind that you don’t want water “flowing” into the key board.

That’s the first thing to try.

I’ve had good luck pulling the cover off and lifting out the guts to get at the keyboard…but I’m not going to recommend that here as there’s too many veriables and too easy to break something.

Me…I’d just take it to a ‘puter shop……
Tried doing the keyboard repair thing on a reg. keyboard……….off to Bestbuy for a new one
Can’t do that with a laptop.
Sounds like a job for a pro.

That might be the best answer…there are lots of wire springs in there.
I’ve replaced keys on the FW’s laptop (that the dog chewed on..don’t ask!)and it’s fairly simple…but then it’s much easier to take it in and not worry about putting it back together correctly.

What website were you on when you noticed the problem? I couldn’t help myself either!

I would probably use Brian K’s advice…you could also buy a duster can and use that after you used the wash cloth and q-tip.

    Good Luck

BTW-a new keyboard is $15-20, unless yours is something special, a trip to the store might be in order.

You know what works great? Alcohol wipes. If you don’t have any of those, just cotton with a little rubbing alcohol works great too. Don’t use something like Windex or it will take the letters right off the keys! If you type like my husband, you’d be in trouble then!
